Cleebronn can be explored through very different themes: a catapult roller coaster, a wine bar at Michaelsberg and buildings with a long history. Depending on your interests, you can put active experiences or culture at the heart of your stay.

Experiences between speed and wine

The “Karacho” catapult roller coaster at Tripsdrill Adventure Park accelerates to 100 km/h in 1.6 seconds. This precise figure makes the ride appealing to anyone who enjoys dynamic attractions. The “Christophsblick” wine bar at Michaelsberg offers a different kind of experience. It is run by the Cleebronn-Güglingen eG winegrowers’ cooperative together with Storz Weinkellerei, Weingut Holzwarth and Weingut Ranspacher Hof. According to the tourism information, the wine bar is open on Saturdays and Sundays; check the latest opening information before your trip.

Architectural history in Cleebronn

St. Michael’s Church was first mentioned in a document in 793 and was the centre of an early Christian ecclesiastical district. After church use came to a temporary end in the 16th century, it was used as a barn. Count Johann Philipp von Stadion had it restored in 1727; a Capuchin hospice was added in 1739 and was run by monks until 1823. This sequence of religious use, repurposing and restoration traces a long history of the town.

Magenheim Castle is a large, well-preserved and historically authentic Hohenstaufen castle complex. Its notable features include a palas, the well-preserved so-called “Gothic Stone House” and masonry made of rusticated ashlar blocks. Today’s Cleebronn town hall adds another historical note: it was built in 1736 under Count Johann Philipp von Stadion in what was then Neu-Cleebronn. So-called “envy faces” can be seen on its south and west sides. Together, the three sites reveal different facets of history, from religious buildings and a castle complex to an 18th-century town hall.

The region also brings together history and events. Weibertreu Castle Ruins are a viewpoint and a small open-air museum at the entrance to Weinsberger Tal. The Wine and Rose Circular Trail offers a particularly scenic climb to the ruins. Performances at the Stettenfels Castle Festival are always held outdoors; check the performance dates separately. Much of the castle wall can be walked along, and the park is freely accessible. Access conditions may change during special events.

At the Bad Friedrichshall Visitor Mine, guests can explore the history and changing mining techniques in former mining areas. The interactive tour is 180 m underground and includes light displays and laser shows. For a different kind of outing, consider the Bad Wimpfen saltwater spa: the water is heated to 32–34°C and has a salt content of 1.5–2.5 percent. These figures may change. The Eppingen Forest Trail rounds out the regional offer with a three-kilometre circular route and 13 stops.
