Several themes come into play when planning a trip to Lauchringen: the intermunicipal Eichberg/Wiggenberg Nordic Walking Centre, the “Bergweg and Wutach Embankment” circular route, the water-treading facility and the skate park at the adventure playground. Also worth noting is the protected architectural ensemble at Lindenplatz in the centre of Oberlauchringen. The options range from routes and a standalone activity to the townscape.

Nordic walking: circular routes across municipal boundaries

The intermunicipal Eichberg/Wiggenberg Nordic Walking Centre officially opened in 2004 with six circular routes. The signposted routes are between 3.5 and 12 kilometres long and run through the municipal areas of Wutöschingen, Lauchringen and Detzeln. One access point is at the Wiggenberg rest area in Lauchringen. The combination of routes crossing municipal boundaries and a local access point makes it easier to choose a route based on your preferred distance and starting point. Before setting out, check the local signs and current trail conditions.

A circular route with named waypoints

If you would rather follow a specific route than choose among several circular routes, try the 7.7-kilometre “Bergweg and Wutach Embankment” circuit. It starts at Lauchringen outdoor swimming pool, passes via Lauffenmühle and the Reiherwald Monument at Dreitälerblick, continues to Oberlauchringen and returns to the pool along the Wutach embankment. The sequence of starting point, named landmarks and return makes the route easy to follow as a circuit. Check the local signs here too before setting out.

Wutach embankment and cycling route

There is also a water-treading facility on the Wutach embankment, right beside the cycle and footpath; it is located in flowing water. If you would like to include water as an additional theme in your plans, this offers a distinct point of interest alongside the route information.

Lauchringen lies on the “Southern Black Forest Cycle Route”, a circular cycling route around 270 kilometres long. This approximate total distance is on a much larger scale than the 7.7-kilometre “Bergweg and Wutach Embankment” route. Comparing the two helps distinguish between different travel interests: a specific circuit starting and ending in Lauchringen, or following a longer cycle route.

Skate park and town centre

Lauchringen’s adventure playground has a municipal skate park. It adds a different kind of activity to your day’s plans alongside the routes. If you are travelling as a family or in a group, you can consider different interests separately: one person may be interested in the route distances, while another may prefer the skate park. The protected architectural ensemble at Lindenplatz is part of Oberlauchringen’s town centre and adds a specific local point of interest to the range of activities.

Consider your type of trip when looking for accommodation

When looking for accommodation in Lauchringen, it helps to first identify the kind of trip you have in mind: a circuit with a set route, a focus on the Southern Black Forest Cycle Route, or several different local interests. If you are travelling with others, consider which themes matter to everyone and which are of particular interest to individual members of the group.
