Aindling between the Generation Park and church history
Accommodation in Aindling
Discover Aindling through its different highlights: the Generation Park, its multifaceted church history, and nature and water destinations in the surrounding area. You can decide whether to focus your stay primarily on local attractions or combine Aindling with other cultural and outdoor destinations in the wider Aichach-Friedberg travel region.
The Generation Park and spending time outdoors together
The municipal amenities list dated March 3, 2022, mentions play and sports equipment for adults as well as children in the Generation Park, along with a drinking fountain. For generations travelling together, the explicitly mentioned equipment for adults is a useful detail; the facilities combine physical activity with a place to stop for a drink. If you plan to visit the park, check the facilities before you go.
Church history in Aindling, Pichl and Eisingersdorf
An early historical landmark is the year 1033: the parish and St. Martin’s Church in Aindling are first documented at that time. The originally Romanesque church, later given Gothic features, was remodelled in the Baroque style during the 17th and 18th centuries. In 1895, the decision was made to build a new church in the Neo-Gothic style; it was completed in 1901. The dates tell the story of different phases: from the earliest record and changes to the church building to the decision to build anew.
The parish church in Pichl offers another point of reference in time: it was built in the Gothic style in 1585. Pichl was incorporated into the main village of Aindling between 1972 and 1975. Eisingersdorf is another stop in the area’s church history. Its church is considered a noteworthy gem of ecclesiastical architecture; Eisingersdorf belonged to the formerly independent municipality of Pichl, which was incorporated into Aindling. This allows visitors interested in culture to explore architectural history alongside the history of the incorporated localities, without conflating their distinct timelines into a single development.
Nature, lakes and a cycle path nearby
The Lech floodplains and the Sander Badeeseen lakes are close to Aindling. The Thierhaupten–Augsburg cycle path is also nearby. This brings together a range of outdoor attractions: floodplain landscapes, lakes and a cycling route. If you plan to visit the Sander Badeeseen lakes, check in advance what activities are currently available. For a cycling trip, it is advisable to check the route and trail conditions before setting off.

Aichach-Friedberg also offers distinctive historical highlights for cultural trips. The Herrgottsruh pilgrimage church in Friedberg was built between 1731 and 1753 and is considered one of the finest examples of Bavarian Rococo. Friedberg’s Wittelsbach Castle stands on the site of a High Medieval castle built around 1257 under Duke Louis II the Strict. Aichach’s historic old town has changed little over the centuries; the town museum tells the story of the town. These attractions offer a different focus from Aindling’s church and local history.
