The Marienkapelle, the Moos circular hiking trail and the Weiding–Gleißenberg cycling route reveal different sides of Döbersing: a place for devotion and quiet reflection, a hike with a clearly defined route, and a cycling route through several places. There is also the SPA sub-area “Östlich Döbersing”. This makes it possible to plan a stay that combines quiet moments with active outings.

A Place of Devotion

The Marienkapelle stands on Hagenbergstraße at the edge of Döbersing, in the direction of Gschieß. It was built in 2010 with the participation of the Döbersing village community and the “Tannengrün” shooting club, and is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The chapel invites visitors to contemplation, prayer and quiet reflection. If you do not want to fill every day of your trip with an outing, you can plan a visit to this place of devotion as a peaceful moment in its own right. This adds a moment of pause to the area’s activity-focused options.

Exploring Döbersing on Foot

The We02, the Moos circular hiking trail, runs from Dalking parish church via Reisach and Döbersing and back to the parish church. The hike is 5.7 kilometres long, with a stated duration of 1 hour 30 minutes. Before entering the forest, the trail offers a view towards Döbersing. For orientation, the route is important: the starting and return point is Dalking parish church, while Döbersing lies along the way.

Another route is the G7 Döbersinger Weg. It passes through Döbersing and connects Gleißenberg, Ried, Gschieß and Rußmühle. This gives it a different route profile from the We02: the latter returns to Dalking parish church, while the G7 connects several named places. You can choose between a described circular hike and a route linking several places.

Cycling to Gleißenberg

The Weiding–Gleißenberg cycling route is an easy, 9.9-kilometre route that passes through Dalking and Döbersing on its way to Gleißenberg. You can start in the centre of Weiding or at Weiding town hall. From the town hall, the route runs via Zelz and the Dalking sports ground to Döbersing; from there, a gravel farm track heads towards Rußmühle. The named places and the change from the sports ground to the farm track provide clear orientation along the route.

The “Östlich Döbersing” Landscape Area

The SPA sub-area named “Östlich Döbersing” covers 272.4 hectares and is identified as 6741-471.08 in the October 2024 management plan. If you want to visit a particular area, check the protected-area designation and boundaries beforehand. This helps you relate the area information to the specific place you want to include in your plans.

Weiding with Its Own Destinations

Weiding also offers its own points of interest as a wider travel destination. Weiding’s Marienkirche was consecrated on 11 October 1959. At Chambtal-Grundschule Weiding, the Europa-Allee displays tree species typical of the 28 EU member states. If you would like to plan a hike there, you can choose the We01, the Haidsteiner Weg: it starts at Weiding town hall, is 7.8 kilometres long and runs via Neumühlen, Walting and Haid through the Haidholz forest and over Nickelhöhe, Kohlstatt and the Waltinger Weg to Haidstein at an elevation of 743 metres.

If you are planning a family outing, you can first choose the day’s activity according to how much exercise you want: the We02 covers 5.7 kilometres and has a stated duration of 1 hour 30 minutes; the cycling route is rated easy and is 9.9 kilometres long. This lets you compare a hike with a stated duration and a cycling tour, and plan the day around the activity you prefer.
