Moos between the Untersee and nature reserves

Moos lies at the southwestern end of Lake Constance, on the Untersee, and is surrounded by extensive nature reserves. Its location on the water and protected natural environment shape the character of the town. Around Schienerberg, forests, the lake, orchards and vegetable gardens are part of the landscape; most of the area is protected as a nature or landscape conservation area.

Hiking and time by the water

There are hiking opportunities around Moos, Weiler, Iznang and Bankholzen. The Vordere-Höri circular hiking trail connects all four districts of Moos and provides two concrete planning benchmarks: a distance of around 13 kilometres and a duration of approximately three hours. This lets you weigh up the distance and time required together when exploring the area on foot.

Moos lido is also located within a nature reserve. Its facilities include a large sunbathing lawn, three children’s playgrounds, a kiosk, a restaurant and a lakeside terrace. For families, the playgrounds are a practical planning detail; the sunbathing lawn and lakeside terrace offer further ways to enjoy a stay by the water.

Water procession and Büllefest

The Moos water procession connects the lake with a local tradition. It was first held as a water procession in 1926; visitors can take part aboard large accompanying boats. The annual Büllefest rotates among Bankholzen, Iznang, Moos and Weiler. Local products made with Bülle onions take centre stage. Dishes on offer include Bülledünne, Büllesuppe and Büllebrot.

Getting around the surrounding area

Bus, train and boat services offer ways to explore the area around Moos. With the Bodenseecard West, visitors can travel free of charge by bus and train in the district of Konstanz, including to Stein am Rhein and Überlingen.
