Allmannsweier combines a distinctive townscape with a Baroque church, recurring cultural events and cycling connections. This makes it an interesting destination if you would like to discover architectural heritage, plan your trip around an event or explore the area by bike.

Half-timbered farmsteads and a Baroque church

Some well-preserved hook-shaped farmsteads built using half-timbering still stand in the centre of Allmannsweier. They convey the typical Ried atmosphere and give the town’s architectural heritage a tangible character. The Protestant parish church in the town centre also stands out: it was built between 1781 and 1783 and has a striking double slate-domed tower, considered a widely known landmark of the town.

The church is designed in the Baroque style, with round-arched windows and wall niches. Above the entrance door, a cartouche displays the coats of arms of the four lords of the town at the time. The interior also includes a stucco-marble feature with a cylindrical tube containing a gilded lamb with a cross and banner. These architectural and decorative details offer different ways to get to know Allmannsweier through its local history and church architecture.

The organ also has a history linked to a named maker: it was built by Blasius Schaxel, a pupil of the well-known organ builder Andreas Silbermann. Together with the church’s architectural features, it offers a tangible insight into different aspects of the town’s architectural and cultural history.

Music and summer events

The “Allmannsweier Evening Music” takes place at more or less regular intervals and is themed around the season or religious holidays. If you would like to include an evening music event in your travel plans, check the specific dates in advance.

Another cultural highlight is the recurring Schwanau Cultural Summer. Organised in collaboration with local associations, the series of events takes place on four summer evenings in Ottenheim, Wittenweier, Nonnenweier and Allmannsweier. This offers two different options to consider when planning your trip: the evening music is scheduled around the season or religious holidays, while the Cultural Summer is a summer series held at several of the named locations. For both, current dates may be important when choosing your travel period.

Cycling and getting here

An existing shared footpath and cycle path connects Allmannsweier and Nonnenweier. The “Along the Rhine Floodplains” cycling tour is another option for cyclists: it follows the “Schutter Valley–Rhine” cycle route and turns towards Rust at the level of Allmannsweier. Check the signs and route conditions before setting off.

Travelling via the A5 motorway is also closely linked to the town: if you arrive via the A5, you reach Allmannsweier first, a district of Schwanau. When planning, you can take your journey, preferred activities and any event dates into account together.

Choose Allmannsweier as your accommodation destination

Your planned itinerary can help you decide where to look for accommodation in Allmannsweier. If architectural heritage is your main interest, the hook-shaped farmsteads and the parish church, with its architecture and features, are the highlights. If you would like to include cycling, the connection to Nonnenweier and the cycling tour towards Rust can help you find your way. If an event is the reason for your trip, plan your stay around its specific date. When choosing Allmannsweier as your base, consider whether architectural heritage, cycling or an event date is your main priority.
