Neuler combines trails through forests and valleys with art along the way and historic buildings. If you want to spend time outdoors, you can choose from circular trails and nature-themed routes; culture enthusiasts can discover sculptures, chapels and churches. When looking for accommodation, it helps to first consider which experiences you want to shape your trip—and how much time you want to leave for them in your daily itinerary.

Circular Trails Through Forests, Valleys and Scenic Views

The Brandberg Loop is an approximately 4.5-kilometre circular trail through Brandberg Forest, passing ponds and crossing a small bridge over the Haldenbach. The Bruder Klaus Trail is a 5.3-kilometre loop through the Schlierbach Valley between Neuler and Ramsenstrut. It is intended for hikers and cyclists and explores the life and work of Bruder Klaus. With its shorter route and forest ponds, the Brandberg Loop offers a different focus from the themed Bruder Klaus Trail. Check local trail conditions before setting out.

The Fallow Deer Loop passes an enclosure and offers views towards Schwenningen and Ellwangen an der Jagst. The Eigenweg Loop runs across meadows and through small woods; a short section follows the Blinde Rot before ending at the Mariengrotte above Gaishardt. The Panoramic View Loop reaches a viewpoint on the plateau near Bronnen. From there, the view may extend to the Albtrauf when visibility is good.

The Sixenbach Loop descends to the renaturalised Sixenbach and continues to Lake Espachweiler. Hikers may spot aurochs by the stream, although sightings are not guaranteed. The Nature Experience Trail also features varied landscapes: it runs from Leinenfirst along the Schlierbach Valley towards Neuler. At Leinenfirst, it includes a biodiversity hotspot with hedges, a gravel and sand pit, shrubs, nesting aids, an orchard meadow and information boards. Individual habitat features may change over time.

Nature Experiences and Trails for Families

The WaldWunderWeg (Forest Wonder Trail) has numerous stations and information boards in the forest and is designed for learning, play and family recreation. The trail is surfaced, but only partly suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. This limitation is important to bear in mind when planning; it should not be mistaken for the entire route being suitable for everyone.

The trails differ in their themes and landscapes: some focus on forests and ponds, others on a stream, a viewpoint or information about nature. When choosing activities, you can consider whether you would prefer to walk a circular route, cycle, or combine nature and cultural highlights along the way. Some trails have their own distinctive points of interest, such as the religious theme of the Bruder Klaus Trail or the Mariengrotte, the destination of the Eigenweg Loop.

Sculptures, Chapels and Local Traditions

The Niederalfingen–Neuler Sculpture Trail stretches for 8.3 kilometres and features more than 80 sculptures. It includes a 5.3-kilometre Neuler loop with 52 sculptures. The works were created between 2001 and 2009 by the Sculturies, a loosely organised group of people from a range of professions brought together by wood carving. The condition of individual sculptures may vary.

The history of the buildings can also be seen at specific locations. In Bronnen, within the municipality of Neuler, stands the late Romanesque St Ägidius Chapel, with frescoes dating from the early 15th century. Neuler’s parish church was built in 1746 in the Baroque style on the foundations of an earlier Gothic church. The Holy Blood Chapel in Schwenningen is a Baroque building dating from the mid-18th century.

Neuler’s annual carnival parade features numerous floats and groups on foot. It is considered one of the largest carnival parades in the Ostalbkreis; details may change from year to year. The dining options listed in Neuler include Landgasthof Bieg, Gaststätte Hirsch, Gaststätte Wagner, Gaststätte Ebert and Die Burghardsmühle. Check current availability before visiting.

Whether you want to focus on hiking, observing nature, art along the trails or historic buildings, Neuler offers a range of starting points for planning your trip. Base your accommodation search on the experiences that matter most to you, and choose an itinerary at a pace that suits your trip.
