Regnitzlosau offers visitors several specific points of interest: circular trails with named stops, the Baroque Church of St. Ägidien in the town centre and, in the surrounding area, the Kolonnenweg trail on Galgenberg. The trail stops range from fish ponds and the Regnitz River to a water tower and a group of five trees. Inside the church, the pulpit altar, dated 1743, and more than a hundred ceiling paintings take centre stage.

Two Circular Trails of Different Lengths

The Losauer circular trail is 4.5 km long. It starts at the Sparkasse car park and leads along Unterer Mühlweg and Hopfenmühlleite, past the fish ponds and over the wooden bridge across the Regnitz. It then follows Trogenauer Weg and Lerchenweg, through Hohenvierschau and along Alte Hofer Straße to the Catholic Church, before returning to the Sparkasse car park via Gartenstraße and Steig.

The 9.3 km Kirchsteigweg also starts and ends at the Sparkasse car park. Its stops include Hauptstraße, Schulstraße, Flurweg and Kirchsteig, the FKK site and the water tower. The trail continues via Raitschin, the group of five trees, Schöpferloh and Brauhausgasse back to the starting point.

Both routes share the same start and finish, but differ in length and in their stops. The Kirchsteigweg is 4.8 km longer; the Losauer circular trail offers different points of interest, including the fish ponds, the wooden bridge across the Regnitz and the Catholic Church. When planning a day out together with children, this comparison provides a practical starting point: you can weigh up the route and its stops according to what suits your plans.

Baroque Art at St. Ägidien

The Baroque Church of St. Ägidien is in the centre of Regnitzlosau. Its pulpit altar was created in 1743 by sculptor Wolfgang Adam Knoll of Hof for 220 gulden.

The ceiling is another focal point: more than a hundred paintings depict scenes from the New Testament. In contrast to the single, dated pulpit altar, the ceiling unfolds an extensive programme of images. These two features give the church its distinctive cultural character, with one specific work of art and a multitude of biblical depictions.

The Kolonnenweg Trail on Galgenberg

In the surrounding area of Regnitzlosau, the Kolonnenweg trail runs between Regnitzlosau and Nentschau, close to Ziegelhütte, passing directly by Galgenberg. Galgenberg is a nature reserve and a former execution site. This section of the trail thus brings together a description of the landscape and a place with a historical past. Its thematic focus differs from that of the circular trails and their stops in town.

Plan Your Accommodation and Stay

When looking for accommodation in Regnitzlosau, consider which experiences you want to shape your stay: one of the two circular trails, the Baroque church or the Kolonnenweg trail on Galgenberg. The church is in the town centre, the circular trails start at the Sparkasse car park, and the Kolonnenweg is in the surrounding area. These different points of interest can help you prioritise your travel interests and then look for accommodation in a suitable location.
