Discover Unterhaching: meadows, history and a market
Accommodation in Unterhaching
Unterhaching offers a variety of options for a trip: meadow habitats, the long history of St. Korbinian, a farmers’ market and public transport connections.
Meadows and biodiversity
Flower-rich smooth oat-grass meadows shape the present-day landscape of Hachinger Tal Landscape Park. They provide a habitat for many endangered animals, including ground-nesting skylarks and quail. For butterflies, the meadows are the most important habitat in Unterhaching.
To protect plants and animals, parts of the meadows in the landscape park are off-limits from March to August. Check local notices before visiting and take this seasonal access restriction into account when planning your trip.
Getting around Unterhaching and beyond
During peak hours, S-Bahn trains run from Unterhaching to Munich city centre every ten minutes. Munich city centre, as well as recreation areas in the mountains and by lakes, can also be reached from Unterhaching by public transport. This means you can plan a trip focused either on city excursions or on time in nature.
The Unterhaching mobility station brings together the S-Bahn, buses and taxis, an MVG Rad bike station, electric vehicle charging stations, car sharing, and Park+Ride and Bike+Ride facilities. The cycling network is also well developed, including two bicycle streets and a link to the Munich RadlRing. For travel by car, Unterhaching is close to the A8 and A995 motorway junctions. Timetables and transport infrastructure may change; check the latest information before planning your trip.
Church history and culture
The history of St. Korbinian Church in Unterhaching dates back to 1315. From 1670, it was an important pilgrimage site. St. Korbinian is a Late Gothic choir-tower church, built around 1300. The nave was extended around 1460, and the interior was redesigned in 1615.
The Unterhaching Local History Museum Association presents the municipality’s historical and archaeological heritage through exhibitions, lectures and information events. There is also practical information for event visitors: the KUBIZ hall is accessible by lift. Free parking is available for events in a garage with more than 100 spaces. Check the latest event and access information before visiting.
Weekly market and regional products
A farmers’ market is held every Thursday at Rathausplatz in Unterhaching. Various local producers sell fresh products from the region. The selection also includes olives, marinated cheese, spreads and antipasti; the selection and availability may vary from one market day to another. Check the current market date and the day’s offerings before visiting.
When choosing accommodation, you can weigh up whether meadows and local history, the market, or connections to Munich and the recreation areas will be the focus of your stay. Search for accommodation and a location that match the interests that matter for your trip.
