Rohr: Church, Culture and Activities
Accommodation in Rohr
The structure of St. Emmeram Church continues to shape the townscape in Rohr today. The municipality also offers activities of various kinds: tennis in summer, golf, cycling and culture. The Culinary Artists’ Mile combines exhibitions with live workshops; a collection of snuff machines has also developed into a small museum.
Summer Activities and Exercise in the Municipality
In summer, you can play tennis on three clay courts each in Rohr and Regelsbach. The facilities are seasonal; check with the local clubs for current access arrangements. This lets you factor tennis into your plans based on your travel dates, rather than assuming the courts are available year-round.
The 9-hole golf course in Nemsdorf/Göckenhof offers free taster courses and a driving range where golf beginners can practise their first shots. The course in Nemsdorf also offers a view of the historic imperial city of Nuremberg. If the courses are important to your travel plans, check their current availability with the operator before you arrive.
Another way to get active is the Mills and Churches Cycling Trail, part of the cycling routes offered by the municipality of Rohr. The municipality thus combines court sports and cycling, allowing you to choose between the two based on your interests.
Artists’ Mile and Museum
At the Culinary Artists’ Mile in the municipality, various artists present all-day exhibitions and live workshops along Pfarrgasse and Buchschwabacher Straße. There is also a children’s programme. If you plan to make the event a fixed part of your stay, check the dates in advance before planning your trip around it.
Another cultural highlight is the collection of snuff machines belonging to the Dechendorf Snuff Club, which has developed into a small museum. Guided visits are available by prior arrangement; confirm the date with the club in advance. The two offerings therefore differ clearly for planning purposes: the date of the Artists’ Mile matters, while a museum tour requires advance arrangements.
