Titmaringhausen lies in the valley of the Wilde Aa, between the foothills of the Rothaar Mountains. The road ends in the village, so there is no through traffic. These features provide a clear setting for planning your holiday: a striking valley location, architectural history and a range of hiking options come together here. You can plan your stay around the subjects that interest you most—such as historic buildings or trails with different routes.

Local History and Architectural Heritage

Titmaringhausen was first mentioned in a document in 1280. A small chapel was built there in 1623. The building history of St. Anthony’s Chapel also includes an extension built over the Wilde Aa in 1954. These dates provide specific milestones in the village’s history, from its first documented mention to a 20th-century building project.

The listed Fresenhof is located in the Medebach district of Titmaringhausen. The old farmhouse dates from 1768; the adjoining granary is even older, dating from 1708. The farmstead therefore brings together two different periods of construction in one place. As it is privately owned, it can be viewed from the outside.

Hiking Trails with Different Routes

Titmaringhausen has an extensive network of hiking trails in the “Hohe Pön” hiking area. One specific option is the Kohlhagenweg (T2): it starts in the village center and returns to the village center. Its route is therefore defined by a start and finish in the village.

The “In the Footsteps of Glindfeld Monastery” history trail follows a different route. It runs from Glindfeld via Küstelberg to Titmaringhausen and Deifeld, and features more than 22 stops at original historic sites. You can easily distinguish the two options by their routes: the T2 starts and ends in the village center, while the history trail connects several named places and focuses on historic sites.
