Oberhenneborn: Henne, Trails and Village History
Accommodation in Oberhenneborn
Oberhenneborn brings together the Henne, walking trails and visible traces of the village’s history. The river flows through the village and empties into nearby Lake Henne. When planning your day, you can choose from different perspectives: trails that focus on the village or the Henne, and discoveries related to chapels, traditional crafts and the landscape. This makes it easy to tailor your stay to your own interests.
Walking trails with different highlights
Several shorter walking trails start in the village centre. The Habichtsweg is about 3 km long and offers a view of Oberhenneborn. After 400 metres, it reaches the Kreuzkapelle. At about 4 km, the easy Kuhweg is longer and also offers a lovely view of the village. The Eulenweg, about 5.7 km long, runs along the Henne.
The trail lengths provide a practical guide for choosing: the Habichtsweg is the shortest of the three, the Kuhweg falls in between, and the Eulenweg is the longest. They also offer different highlights. The Habichtsweg focuses on views of Oberhenneborn and the Kreuzkapelle, the Kuhweg is specifically described as easy, and the Henne accompanies you along the Eulenweg.
Another option is the Golddorf Route. It starts at the Friedenseiche in Oberhenneborn and is marked along the entire route with a golden G on a red background. One of its destinations is a rock known as the “Henneborner Loreley”. The “Auf dem Kreuz” viewpoint also offers a view of Oberhenneborn and includes a wayside shrine. It can be reached on foot from the village car parks, including via the Fotoroute.
Chapels, village history and small discoveries
The Catholic church in Oberhenneborn is dedicated to St Agatha. The Stations of the Cross also include a chapel. The present-day Kreuzkapelle stands on a nearby mountain saddle and was built in 1996 by the village community through its own efforts. The name “Henneborner Eule” recalls a former craft tradition: the emblem was once stamped onto iron goods made by local blacksmiths.
Other stops offer different highlights. The old bakehouse in Oberhenneborn is stop 2 on the Fotoroute. Several information boards along the bee nature trail explain the lives and work of bees. The local themes therefore range from village views and regional craft traditions to photography and knowledge of nature.

Be sure to take this information into account when planning your trip.
If you are considering Oberhenneborn as a base for your stay, you could start by thinking about what you want to focus on: short trails of different lengths, the Henne, village history, or travelling by bus and hiking taxi.
