Radevormwald invites you to discover its many sides: industrial and local history, public art and trails through valleys. When planning your trip, you can choose how much to focus on culture and outdoor activities—from a museum visit to an outing on foot or by bike.

Museums, History and Art

The IG Bismarck Two-Wheeler Museum is located at Textilstadt Wülfing in Radevormwald-Dahlerau. It displays numerous exhibits, many of which have been preserved in their original condition. The Wülfing Museum gives visitors an insight into the history of the former Johann Wülfing & Sohn textile factory. The Radevormwald Local History Museum offers another glimpse into the area’s past, with a focus on products from local industry and crafts.

The town itself also offers points of interest for a culture-focused visit: the Evangelical Reformed Church on the market square is a listed historic building in Radevormwald. Works by international artists are regularly displayed in the town hall, public spaces and four town churches. The selection of works and some exhibition locations may change. A museum route takes in four museums; if you would like to visit individual museums, check their visitor information in advance.

Enjoy time together and get outdoors

The cafeteria at the WĂĽlfing Museum offers a Bergisch coffee table for groups of eight or more; advance reservations are required. As catering options may change, it is advisable to confirm availability before making plans. This is particularly useful if a group meal is an essential part of your itinerary.

Uelfebad is an accessible natural recreation area for walkers, anglers and model boat enthusiasts. It offers different ways to enjoy the outdoors: a walk, time by the water or the chance to use model boats. Check local conditions before your visit.

The Tuchmacherweg connects the town hall in Radevormwald with the Wupper dam and runs through the Uelfetal and Wupper valleys. From the endpoint at the top of the dam, bus 671 returns to the town centre; check the timetable before your outing. This lets you plan the route and return journey together without assuming a particular walking time.

The Wasserquintett Cycle Route is a signposted, 73-kilometre route in the wider region; 28 kilometres follow a former railway line. In the Oberbergischer Kreis, the cycle route begins and ends at Marienheide railway station. Many sections follow disused railway lines with gentle gradients and are suitable for e-bikes and touring bikes. The information on length and route characteristics provides a useful guide, while choosing the right section depends on your own tour plans.

Hiking and cultural highlights in the Oberbergischer Kreis

Five hiking maps for the Bergisches Land show the complete, current hiking trail network of the Rheinisch-Bergischer and Oberbergischer districts and help with route planning. Check the relevant edition before buying. The Höhenroute starts at the Nümbrecht Kurpark hiking car park. It takes its name from the landscape and the views across the ridges; the route is signposted throughout, and GPS navigation is also available via Outdooractive. As routes and navigation aids may change, it is advisable to check before setting out.

On the Klangpfad in the Homburger Ländchen, you can experience quiet and the sounds of nature. The original Klangpfad was developed by the municipality of Nümbrecht in collaboration with the Oberberg Biological Station. The Talsperrenroute offers a different focus: it passes four reservoirs and provides information about flora, fauna and animal habitats around the reservoirs in three audio segments. The route runs through the region around Marienheide, Wipperfürth and Hückeswagen.

Crafts and water are also part of the Oberbergischer Kreis’s appeal. At the LVR Open-Air Museum in Lindlar, craftspeople demonstrate traditional techniques, with a different craft featured each day. For the 2026 bathing season, the Oberbergischer Kreis listed a total of 13 official bathing spots at the Aggertalsperre, Bevertalsperre, Bruchertalsperre and Lingesetalsperre in a notice dated 19 May. Water quality met the requirements of the EU Bathing Water Directive and was regularly monitored throughout the season.

If you are planning to hike or cycle, factor the relevant starting points and the latest route and timetable information into your plans.
