Staudernheim offers various ways to spend time outdoors: hiking trails lead into the surrounding countryside, an observation tower opens up views across the Nahe Valley, and a stretch of river invites you to fish. There is also a barefoot path between Staudernheim and Bad Sobernheim, as well as a local network of trails for cyclists, inline skaters and Nordic walkers. You can plan your trip around whether you mainly want to hike, fish, enjoy the views or try different forms of outdoor activity.

Hiking Trails, Views and Outdoor Activities

The well-maintained, signposted hiking trails lead into the surrounding area. At the Jungenwald hiking car park, there are benches and a barbecue area. This makes it easy to plan a hike and a break at a specific spot. Check local access conditions before your visit.

Cyclists, inline skaters and Nordic walkers also use the local recreational trail network. The observation tower offers a different perspective: from there, you can see across the Nahe Valley. When planning your day, you can choose from various ways to spend time outdoors—from hiking on signposted trails to enjoying the view from the tower or using the network on wheels or with walking poles.

River Fishing and the Barefoot Path

The fishing stretch in Staudernheim is approximately eight kilometres long. The river is described as having both calm and fast-flowing sections, and trout, eels and whitefish. Fishing permits and regulations may vary; check the applicable rules before fishing.

The 3,500-metre barefoot path runs between Staudernheim and Bad Sobernheim, combining a chance to experience the landscape with barefoot relaxation. In the wider Bad Kreuznach destination, the 3.5-kilometre barefoot path in Bad Sobernheim runs as far as the Nahe. Mud pools, an obstacle course and a variety of surfaces are part of the route. It is presented there as a summer leisure activity. As it may operate seasonally, check visiting options in advance.

Culture in the Wider Bad Kreuznach Destination

The history of the buildings also offers specific points of interest to explore. The bridge houses in Bad Kreuznach are half-timbered buildings on pillars of the old Nahe Bridge. They were built from 1480 onwards due to a lack of space; the bridge itself dates from around 1300. This ensemble makes it easy to see the difference between the newer houses and the older bridge structure they stand on.

Since 1985/86, the museums of the city of Bad Kreuznach have been housed in the listed former Bangert manor, which is set in a historic park. For another way to explore the region’s history, visit the rock hermitage in Bretzenheim: carved entirely into the rock, this place of worship probably dates back to prehistoric times and was repurposed in the early Christian era. You can visit the site from the outside year-round, without a guide. Entry to the rock dwelling is currently not possible due to a rockfall.

Those interested in musical instruments can also visit the orgel ART Museum in Windesheim, in the wider Bad Kreuznach destination. This musical instrument museum is unique of its kind in Germany. For information on stays, accommodation and booking, as well as leisure activities, wellness, wine and cuisine, contact the tourist information offices of the local municipalities and towns in the district, or Naheland Touristik in Kirn.
