Hömberg: Panoramic Views and Circular Trails in the Lahn Heights
Accommodation in Hömberg
Hömberg is located in the Lahn Heights at the foot of the Westerwald and within Nassau Nature Park. From here, sweeping views extend towards the Taunus, Hunsrück and Eifel. Its elevated location and open views give the village a distinctive landscape character. Exploring Hömberg lets you combine distant views with several local circular trails.
Four circular trails, different routes
The four signposted trails each offer something different. H1 is about 4 km long and passes over the Pionierbrüggelche. At around 3.4 km, H2 is the shortest loop and offers views towards Nassau and the Lahn Valley. H3 is the longest route at approximately 8.3 km; it runs over the Ehrlichskopf and past a former slate mine. H4 is about 6 km long and passes over the Herrnley, Hahnenkopf and the Gertrudishöhe viewpoint. Distance alone is not the only factor to consider: H4 has steep sections and is recommended for experienced hikers.
The circular trails start near the entrance on the Nassau side. The local hiking trails are marked with coloured symbols and start at the former ADAC car park on this side; an information board there explains the routes. Before setting off, you can consult both the trail markers and the overview at the starting point.
Getting oriented and other amenities
Hömberg has hiking car parks and barbecue areas. A Kneipp facility is about 270 m from the village. Before visiting, check the local access and use conditions for the facility and barbecue areas, as availability and access permissions may change. There is also a parking location near Hotel Taunusblick; check local parking conditions before setting off.
Hof Taunusblick is also part of Hömberg’s rural character. It is associated with farm holidays, a petting meadow, dairy goat farming, an on-site goat cheese dairy and an organic shop. This brings together agricultural activities with the village’s nature and hiking experiences. If you would like to visit the farm, check in advance whether it is open and whether access will be possible at the time of your visit.

Rhein-Lahn in a wider context
The wider Rhein-Lahn destination includes the Rhein-Lahn district on the right bank of the Rhine, covering the area around the mouth of the Lahn and the Lahn Valley up to just before Limburg, near Diez. It also includes the southern foothills of the Westerwald towards the Lahn Valley and the northern Taunus uplands between the Rhine and the Aar. The Roman Limes also crosses the district: its remains are still visible today and form part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Upper Germanic-Rhaetian Limes.
The UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley includes a 65-kilometre stretch between Bingen, Rüdesheim and Koblenz, with historic small towns, terraced vineyards and castle ruins. The section on the right bank of the Rhine, from Kaub to Lahnstein, lies in the Rhein-Lahn district. In Bad Ems, the spa house, concert hall, villas, former hotels, churches, spa park and historic panoramic trails shape the historic spa ensemble, which forms the Historic Spa Town of Ems monument zone. The Emser Therme in Bad Ems offers wellness facilities featuring thermal water from healing springs and a river sauna.
