Gammendorf Beach lies on the north coast of Fehmarn and brings together coastal themes and a special place of remembrance. Among anglers, it is better known as Teichhof. For this group of visitors, the name serves as a guide to the beach. At the same time, a mast there commemorates the tragic end of the crew of the Niobe sailing training ship. The Niobe Memorial is located at Gammendorf Beach in Gammendorf. The name used by anglers and the Niobe memorial therefore offer two distinct points of reference. If you would like to get to know a coastal place not only through its landscape but also through a specific historical connection, the story of the Niobe is part of the experience here.

Niobe: Memorial and Orientation

At the Gammendorf car park, you will find the publicly accessible, barrier-free Niobe information and shelter pavilion. It is a stopping point for cyclists, hikers and groups. Seating and shelter from wind and weather make it a practical stop; the information covers nature, the coastal landscape and coastal protection. For cycle tourists, there are free e-bike charging points as well as an ADAC bicycle service station for minor repairs. Charging and minor repairs are different kinds of support: the charging points are free, while the service station is intended for minor repairs. If you are travelling by bike, you can plan to use both; walkers and groups can also find seating, shelter from the weather and information. While the memorial commemorates the crew, the pavilion combines information with practical services for travellers.

At the Green Brink: Dog Beach and Beltbude

In the north of Fehmarn, a designated dog beach with fine sand lies at the Green Brink, about 300 metres east of the Beltbude. The Beltbude has a car park, a kiosk and a toilet. It also offers snacks, cocktails, selected gin and tonics, coffee, non-alcoholic drinks and beer, as well as beach chair rentals. For orientation, the beach and the Beltbude are two separate points of reference: the dog beach is designated as such, while the facilities and services listed are available at the Beltbude. If you are considering the Green Brink because of the dog beach, you can also use the Beltbude as a separate point of reference, with its car park, kiosk and toilet.

Playground and Information Point

The small playground in Gammendorf is located between the Beltbude and the Baltic Sea. It is a specific point of interest for families with children. Gammendorf also has an information point that is open around the clock and provides free information materials. The two facilities serve different purposes: the playground focuses on activities for children, while the information point offers information materials at any time of day. This means you can plan your orientation on site even if your schedule is not tied to regular opening hours.

Decide which of these highlights matters for your trip, and tailor your accommodation search to that interest. This way, your choice starts with the experiences that genuinely interest you, rather than with a general idea of a beach holiday.
