Discover Pelzerhaken: South Beach and coastal scenery
Accommodation in Pelzerhaken
Pelzerhaken brings together beaches, coastal scenery and activities on the water. The sandy beach, just over two kilometres long, is ideal for long walks, while the pier extends far out into the sea. Water sports courses, ParkGolf and nature experiences round out the options.
Coastal scenery and walks
Between Pelzerhaken and Rettin lies an FFH area featuring a complete sequence of coastal landforms. These include a former cliff that is now wooded, a former lagoon depression used as grassland, a coastal dune and beach-ridge system, and a beach in front of it. This means the coastal stretch encompasses wooded landscapes, areas used as grassland and beach-dominated terrain.
Pelzerhaken has the only south-facing beach in Lübeck Bay. Its sandy beach is just over two kilometres long and is ideal for long walks. Along the beach, the dune promenade offers accessible walks, including for visitors with pushchairs and wheelchairs. For a shorter stroll in green surroundings, the small Dittmer Forest is a good choice: you can enjoy a short walk or take your dog for a quick outing there. Pelzerhaken Chapel is also located on the highest point in Pelzerhaken.
Things to do by the water and in town
The pier in Pelzerhaken extends exactly 135 metres from the shore. At its end, you are surrounded by the sea on all sides. The ParkGolf course offers a different kind of activity, with a total of twelve walkable holes.
Sail&Surf Pelzerhaken offers courses in windsurfing, catamaran sailing, stand-up paddling, kitesurfing and wing foiling. The shallow water at the surf schools is also suitable for beginners. Sail&Surf also provides training for the internationally recognised VDWS licence. If you are planning a particular sport or course, bear in mind that the availability of individual offerings may vary.
Amber tour and travel
An amber tour is offered on Pelzerhaken beach for the 2026–2027 season. Together with nature guide Martin C. Roos, you will search for amber on the Baltic coast. The tour also provides information about the origins, history and significance of amber. Registration is required; check the specific dates before travelling.
Larger car parks close to the beach are located on Dünenweg (P15), Auf der Pelzerwiese / Surf City (P13) and on Strandweg in Rettin (P10). As parking regulations may change, it is best to check the latest information before you travel.
Choose accommodation to suit your plans
When choosing your accommodation, you can base your decision on the experiences that matter most to you. Would you like to enjoy longer walks on the sandy beach, use the dune promenade, plan water sports or join an amber tour? For seasonal tours and individual courses, you should also check that the dates or availability match your travel dates. This way, you can choose a starting point that suits the main focus of your planned holiday.
