Blekendorf brings together coastal scenery, nature and a variety of experiences. In the district of Sehlendorf, nature and landscape conservation areas lie alongside Sehlendorf Beach, which stretches for almost four kilometers. When planning your stay, you can choose between water sports, trails through the region, cultural discoveries and the attractions at the adventure gardens.

Beach and water sports in Sehlendorf

At Sehlendorf Beach, you can try windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding and catamaran sailing. The fine sand and shallow water are considered suitable for beginners. Along with its scenic character, the beach offers various ways to spend time on the water.

Explore the trails and discover history

Blekendorf has a well-developed network of walking and cycling routes. These include the Kranich Circular Trail, an adventure trail. When choosing a route, check the trail conditions locally; conditions may vary from one route to another.

The architecture also tells the story of the area. An Early Gothic fieldstone church in Blekendorf was built between 1230 and 1240. Its 55-meter-high tower is visible from far away. The church interior features various furnishings from different historical periods: the late Baroque altar dates from 1709, as does a wooden baptismal font. The pulpit bears coats of arms and names associated with the noble Ratlow family.

Experiences in the gardens

At the Esel- und Landspielhof, visitors can pet and groom the donkeys. The grounds are designed to be accessible and have accessible toilets. There is free parking right at the attraction, along with three solar-powered charging stations for electric vehicles. If you plan your journey around these facilities, confirm their current status before travelling.
