Randringhausen combines the character of a state-recognised resort with a distinctive spa connection: it is home to the only state-recognised iodine-sulphur springs in North Rhine-Westphalia. At the same time, forests, moorland and paths shape the character of the area.

A spa resort with a distinctive history of springs

The state-recognised resort includes a spa treatment area. The iodine-sulphur springs give Randringhausen a distinctive profile; they are the only state-recognised springs of their kind in North Rhine-Westphalia. This makes the spa connection a tangible part of the experience for anyone looking to get to know the area and plan their stay around it.

One historic milestone is precisely dated: in 1928, two new springs were drilled on the neighbouring Wilmsmeier and Ernstmeier farms. The names of the farms and the year bring this local history to life. A Kneipp basin in Randringhausen was renovated and subsequently gleamed with a fresh stainless-steel finish.

Forest, moor and Kneipp facility

Randringhausen’s wooded recreation area covers around 266 hectares. Within it lies the spa area proper, covering around 34 hectares. These different scales give the area both a broad landscape setting and a clearly defined spa district. When planning your trip, you can think of these as two distinct focuses: the larger wooded surroundings and the spa area.

Walking trails pass by fens. So, alongside the forest, the moorland is also part of the landscape you can experience on a walk. A spacious landscaped park surrounds the spa houses and is used by joggers, walkers and dog owners. The paths and park offer different reasons to spend time outdoors.

Randringhausen also has a public open-air Kneipp facility. Together with the history of the Kneipp basin and the spa treatment area, it brings the resort’s recreational character to life. If you are deciding whether to focus your trip on spa traditions or outdoor activity, you will find these two distinct sides of the area’s character here.

Circular walks and a cycling route

The Bauernbad cycling route passes through Randringhausen. It is a circular route of around 36 kilometres, giving you a specific framework for planning a bike ride. You can get to know the area as part of the route; its length and circular format help distinguish this option from a walk in the landscaped park or on the walking trails.

Another option is the circular route “Um Randringhausen – N&K Route 7”. It starts and ends at the public car park at Kurpark Randringhausen, Bäderstraße 102, 32257 Bünde. This named start and end point gives you a specific reference point when planning your route. The cycling route and circular walk therefore offer different ways to plan your stay: a cycling loop of around 36 kilometres or a walk starting and ending at the car park by the spa park.

Choose the focus of your stay

Would you like to focus mainly on the spa resort and Kneipp facility, or are you more interested in walks and a bike ride? Randringhausen combines these themes with a distinctive history of springs and wooded surroundings. If you are travelling with people who have different interests, it can help to decide in advance which experiences matter most to your group. That way, you can tailor your search for accommodation to your own plans.
