Breit Above the Kleine Dhron Valley

Breit is situated on a hill above the Kleine Dhron Valley. From there, the terrain continues to rise towards the Kugelbaum natural monument. The Kugelbaum is an approximately 200-year-old oak near Breit; the viewpoint is one possible hiking destination from here. Chapel and local history

The Chapel of St Cosmas and Damian is listed as a protected cultural monument dating from 1700; the chapel is thought to have originated in the 14th century. Over time, it underwent numerous alterations and renovation works. The presumed origins and the date of 1700 provide different historical reference points for the chapel. After a new cemetery hall was built in the early 1990s, the municipal council decided to hold church services in the chapel again. A branch of the Ausonius Road, the Roman route connecting Mainz and Trier, also passes Breit. This adds further traces of cultural heritage to the local history of the chapel. The Mehring/Mosel Trail Park is approximately 30 minutes from Breit by mountain bike. The travel times refer to different destinations and should be taken into account when planning a specific tour.
