Discover Achtelsbach
Accommodation in Achtelsbach
Achtelsbach combines a landscape shaped by forests, fields and meadows with traces of cultural history: St. Ulrich Church and the Landheim represent different chapters. For your stay, you can focus on nature, longer hikes, church history or a self-catering group trip.
Forests, meadows and hikes
Around two-thirds of Achtelsbach’s area is forested, and a large part of the forest lies within Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park. The entire village is also situated in Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park. Forests, fields and meadows surround the village. The area is well suited to extended walks and longer hikes. Depending on how far you wish to go, you can make shorter walks or longer hikes the focus of your nature plans.
Church history across several eras
Achtelsbach Church is listed as a historic monument. After the fire on January 8, 2010, which severely damaged the tower and gallery, it was rebuilt. Its reopening was celebrated with a church service on July 31. The furnishings also mark their own points in time: the cast-steel bells date from 1922. A replacement instrument for the village church was played in public for the first time during a church service on June 2, 2013. These dates mark different chapters in the church’s history.
The Achtelsbach Landheim
The Achtelsbach Landheim is a self-catering youth and recreation center that is rented to self-catering guests. It is housed in a former farmhouse built around 1825. It is suitable for training courses, hiking groups, family stays, music and theater groups, workshops, and woodworking courses. Self-catering and group activities make this a different kind of stay from one planned solely around hiking. Check how the house is currently being used before booking.
The grounds cover more than 5,000 m² of play and camping areas, which the small Achtelsbach stream runs through. Check the local terrain before you arrive. The Landheim is approximately 7 km from Birkenfeld, the Birkenfeld motorway exit and Neubrücke railway station. These distances are approximate; check a current route for your journey.
