Niesky offers several ways to shape your stay: nature experiences along the Seegraben, cycling routes and insights into the town’s history.

Water and habitats along the Seegraben

The Seegraben nature trail follows a restored watercourse in Niesky and brings changes in nature, water and landscape to life. Its restored section is about 775 metres long and borders the Teiche bei Moholz protected area under the Habitats Directive. Habitats for amphibians, birds and insects are also part of this natural environment.

The themed stations cover otters and amphibians, meadows and bees, forests, lavender and cultural landscapes, as well as the relationship between people and nature. The trail brings together different aspects of the landscape, from individual animal groups to the question of how people perceive nature and live alongside it.

Cycling routes and a circuit

The Froschradweg and the Oder-Neiße Cycle Route are among the routes around Niesky. Long-distance cycling routes also include the Saxon Towns Route, the Seenlandroute and the Spreeradweg. This selection brings together several named tours, so you don’t have to settle on just one route.

The NeiĂźelandtour is a circuit that starts and ends at Platz der Jugend in Niesky. It combines existing signposted sections, including parts of the Oder-NeiĂźe Cycle Route, the Froschradweg and regional tours. The route is also linked to the heath-and-pond landscape of Upper Lusatia in Silesia. If you want to compare routes, you can choose between individually named long-distance cycling routes and a circuit that starts and finishes in Niesky.

The Tourist Information Office offers themed town walks, provides information about special exhibitions in museums and advises visitors on day trips and cycling tours. It also provides information about regional destinations and sells cycling and hiking maps. It’s a useful place to visit if you want to plan your routes with the help of maps or get more ideas for day trips.

Local history and the wooden-house trail

Niesky’s protected town centre is shaped by Zinzendorfplatz and its simple Baroque buildings. Museum Niesky presents three defining elements of the town’s history: the Moravian Church, the Niesky Pädagogium and Christoph & Unmack. The museum regularly presents special exhibitions by regional artists and members of the local heritage association. Guided visits to significant sites in the town’s history are also available.

The wooden-house trail leads through Niesky’s residential neighbourhoods. Information boards focus on Christoph & Unmack, the architects and their buildings. The trail adds architecture and buildings to the town’s historical story. Other notable places include the Evangelical Brethren Church and the former boys’ school, which is now a secondary school.

Discoveries for a range of interests

For children, the Rallye de Noly offers a fun way to explore Niesky. It takes a different approach from the nature trail and historical themes: here, exploring the town is the main focus. When planning your visit, you can choose what to prioritise: nature, cycling, local history or a rally designed specifically for children.
