Dachtel brings local history to life alongside playgrounds with different features. The local history museum takes you from agriculture, crafts and school life to a historic farmhouse dwelling. Local history museum: A glimpse into life in the past

The Dachtel Local History Museum is housed in the school and town hall built in 1827. Its collection includes agricultural equipment, tools used by various tradespeople, antique weapons and musical instruments. There are also former school materials and a historic farmhouse dwelling. A reconstructed mayor’s room offers a glimpse of historic interiors alongside these objects.

The museum also includes an old classroom, the former office of the mayor, a washhouse and historic firefighting equipment. School, household and crafts are thus represented alongside objects from community life. Two special exhibitions are traditionally held each year; the museum café is open during these exhibitions. Visits are possible by appointment. If you plan to visit the museum, bear in mind that you need to make an appointment, and that the café is open in connection with the special exhibitions.

Church and architectural history

The Protestant parish church in Dachtel dates back to 1601. Heinrich Schickhardt built the church between 1599 and 1601; it was reconsecrated on October 9, 1768. Its construction and later reconsecration mark two distinct stages in its history. Together with the rooms and collections of the local history museum, the church offers another way to explore Dachtel’s past.

Two playgrounds with distinct features

The nature and sensory playground is located above Talweg and includes a barefoot path. The water playground is between Vogelsangstraße and Dachteler Bergstraße. Its water feature includes a water spiral and sluice gates. The two playgrounds therefore have clear distinctions: one focuses on the barefoot path, the other on its water feature. Hiking and local life

The Dachtel branch of the Black Forest Association provides hiking routes with maps and descriptions to download or print. When preparing for your hike, you can choose between digital materials and a printed version. One historic connection with the landscape is the anniversary circular trail commemorating Dachtel’s 750th anniversary: it passed through the designated nature reserves of Storrenberg, Höhnle, Heckental and Eckweg.

A culinary moment from local life has also been recorded: onion tart was baked at the Backhaus-Hocketse in Dachtel. Small pieces were available to sample before serving, and the tart could be ordered in advance.

A regional perspective on the wider destination of Aidlingen

Aidlingen also offers its own natural and cultural setting. More than half of Aidlingen’s municipal area is protected as either a nature reserve or a landscape conservation area. The Venusberg Nature Reserve covers around 115 hectares and is the largest nature reserve in Böblingen district. There are good views from the heights of Venusberg.
