Ebhausen offers a range of reasons to visit: historical and cultural landmarks, themed trails and a landscape shaped by water. You can get to know the town through its history or focus on routes and scenery—depending on what you want to shape your days.

Bell, Widumhaus and Exhibition

One of the four bells hanging in the tower of Ebhausen’s Protestant church, built around 1350, is dated to between 1230 and 1250. It is considered the oldest bell still rung in all of Württemberg. This connects the church to a chapter of the town’s history reaching far back in time.

A description from 1666 referred to the Widumhaus as the only one of the five former Widum houses in Ebhausen still standing. These houses served to provide the pastor with land and property. The permanent exhibition “Wohnen anno dazumal” (Living in Times Gone By) adds to this historical perspective: since the end of 2000, it has been housed in the Old Schoolhouse on Schulstraße, built in 1840.

On display are furniture, equipment, clothing and linens that were used in Ebhausen and the surrounding Upper Nagold Valley. If you would like to visit the exhibition, check visitor arrangements in advance.

Themed Trails with Different Focal Points

The Wendener Runde leads through Ebhausen’s town centre. Along the way, information boards point out sites of historical interest. There is a place to stop for refreshments in the town centre; check whether it is open before your visit.

At Goldberg, a viewpoint on the Wendener Runde offers long-distance views across the Black Forest heights towards the Hornisgrinde. A seating area with a table and a sky lounger invite you to relax and enjoy a picnic. If these facilities are important to your plans, check their current status in advance.

The 4.7-kilometre Flößerweg is a hiking and cycling trail between Ebhausen and Altensteig. Its starting point in Ebhausen is at the end of Zum Hau street. Information boards cover topics including timber rafting, the Monhardter Bach nature habitat, fauna and flora, wet meadows along the route and the waterworks. The trail therefore focuses on both cultural history and natural history.

Another historical highlight is the circular trail in Ebershardt, a district of Ebhausen. The ten-kilometre route features 27 information boards about life in Ebershardt from the 12th to the 20th century. The Flößerweg’s 4.7 kilometres and the Historical Circular Trail’s 10 kilometres offer different route lengths, and their themes have different focal points too.

Water-Shaped Landscape in the Mindersbach Valley

The 51-hectare Mindersbach Valley is shaped by springs, streams and ponds. The Nagold and several tributaries form a varied landscape there. Together with the distant views from Goldberg, this reveals another side of the region: water and views from the heights offer a different experience from the historical sites and information boards.
