Discover Obersulm: Hiking Trails and Orchards
Accommodation in Obersulm
Obersulm can be explored in several ways: among vineyards and orchards, on hikes with different levels of difficulty, along signposted cycling routes, or by the water at the mineral outdoor pool. Families and other groups travelling together are not limited to a single way of getting around. You can compare specific routes and places and plan your stay according to whether you would rather hike, cycle, explore a nature-related theme or swim. When looking for accommodation, it helps to consider your plans for each day: first, think about which of these activities matters most to you.
Hiking routes with different profiles
The route to the Obersulmer Weinerlebnispfad is signposted from the centre of Affaltrach and the Affaltrach light rail stop; there is a car park at the foot of the trail. When you arrive, check the signs and parking conditions.
The Walderlebnispfad and the Weinerlebnispfad can be combined into a route of about 4.5 kilometres. The Weinsberger Tal hiking trails WT 2, “Of Water and Wine,” and WT 20, “Off to Paradise!”, through to WT 26, “Rauhberg Tour,” also run through Obersulm’s municipal area. The 12-kilometre WT 2 starts in Affaltrach, passes through a residential area towards Eschenau and then climbs to Ammertsberg.
A short, challenging hiking route leads from Sülzbach station across fields to a point near Wimmental. It then climbs past orchards and a farm café through vineyards to Rauhberg. This gives you the opportunity to compare routes with different profiles: WT 2 is listed as 12 kilometres long and climbs to Ammertsberg, while the Sülzbach route is described as short and challenging. Check current trail conditions before setting out.
Cycling routes for independent tours
There are numerous well-signposted cycling routes around Obersulm and in the Weinsberger Tal, which can also be used for independent cycling tours. If you prefer to plan each day yourself, this is another way to make your stay active, rather than following a fixed, clearly described hiking route.
Orchard and digital fruit experience
An orchard lies in the “Unteres Greut” area between Affaltrach and Eschenau. It has been designed as a digital experience and learning space for people of all ages. The digital tour on a website also lets you enjoy the fruit experience from home. Its appeal to people of all ages also makes the nature theme interesting for generations travelling together. Check the platform for current availability before using it.
Swimming in Affaltrach
The Obersulm mineral outdoor pool is located in Affaltrach and has a solar-heated water area of 1,200 m². Plan swimming as a separate focus alongside hikes and cycling tours.
