Get to know Kippenhausen through its local history and trails through the countryside. At the Haus Montfort Local History Museum, everyday life, trade, crafts and local customs are presented side by side; St. Mary's Assumption Church adds a cultural perspective, while the Immenstaad Hedgehog Trail offers views of peaceful forests. This gives you different options when planning your trip: exhibitions and architectural history, or outdoor activities.

Museum and Church in Kippenhausen

The Haus Montfort Local History Museum displays an old kitchen and living-room interior, the inventory of an ironmonger's shop, and exhibits on crafts and local customs. The kitchen and living room represent domestic spaces, while the shop inventory represents trade; crafts and local customs round out these themes. The museum is housed in a half-timbered building dating from 1796. The museum's collections may change over time.

St. Mary's Assumption Church is located in Kippenhausen in the old cemetery. It was remodelled in 1710 with the help of Weingarten and Ochsenhausen monasteries. A Lourdes grotto lies east of the church tower. The two dates associated with the museum and church complex have different meanings: 1796 refers to the half-timbered building, while 1710 marks the church's remodelling.

Hiking Trails with Different Character

The Immenstaad Hedgehog Trail starts at Restaurant Montfort in Kippenhausen, Montfortstraße 13. It is 6.72 km long and classified as an easy hiking trail. The route passes through peaceful forests from Kippenhausen via Reute to Frenkenbach. Its starting point, length and route provide practical guidance if you are planning a hike through the forest.

A 7 km circular route in the wider Immenstaad area offers a different experience. It runs entirely on paved paths, along Lake Constance and through the apple-growing areas around Immenstaad; it also passes through Kippenhausen. The tour is considered particularly suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. At 6.72 and 7 km, the two routes are similar in length, but differ in scenery and surface: the Hedgehog Trail passes through forests, while the circular route connects the lakeshore and fruit-growing areas via paved paths. Your choice will therefore depend more on the character of the route and the circular tour's stated suitability than on the small difference in distance.
