Vogt can be explored through two very different aspects: the architectural and art history of St. Anna parish church and the local hiking trails. The tradition of decorating Easter eggs and numerous natural monuments along the hiking trails are also part of the picture. When planning your trip, you can make culture and outdoor activities separate focal points.

St. Anna: Architecture and art history

Today’s St. Anna parish church in Vogt was consecrated on 16 June 1837 and built in the Finanzkammer style. The high altar is decorated with Baroque ornamental elements and putti from the 18th century. The ceiling paintings “The Annunciation” and “St. Cecilia” were painted by Otto Traub of Zwiefalten in 1908. A bell dating from 1623 comes from Urspring Abbey. The church brings together 19th-century architectural history, Baroque elements and later paintings. Decorating Easter eggs is also a tradition in Vogt and provides another cultural accent alongside the sacred art.

Mosisgreut Castle and natural monuments

Mosisgreut Castle is located on the road from Vogt to Hannober in the Ravensburg district; its origins are said to date back more than 800 years. The Mosisgreut ensemble comprises a castle-like residence, a chapel and a barn. This group of several buildings offers a different perspective from the artworks and decorative details of St. Anna. Nature is also part of the local scene: numerous natural monuments lie along Vogt’s hiking trails.

Circular routes for different plans

Vogt V6 is an easy circular hiking trail covering 4.97 kilometres and taking one hour and 30 minutes. The route follows paved paths throughout and is considered easy to walk in any weather. Between Reich and Eggen, it offers a view over Kremmelsmösle towards Vogt. Its length, time required, path conditions and views give you several concrete points to consider when planning your hike.

The Vogt Sun Trail (V8) is also easy and follows a circular route covering 8.36 kilometres. From Le-Mayet-Platz, it passes through Vogt towards the edge of the Altdorfer Wald forest. Along the way, there are views towards Wolfegg, Rötenbach and the Achtal valley. At Moser, you can shorten the route to about 5.4 kilometres by taking the footpath and cycle path along the L324 directly to Vogt. Thus, V8 offers both a longer loop and a specifically described shortcut, as well as various viewpoints. By contrast, the duration and the fact that the route is entirely paved are also relevant to V6.

Hiking and cycling routes in the Waldburg region

On a larger regional scale, the Waldburg region offers an extensive network of hiking and cycling trails across varied terrain. The Water Route passes quiet lakes, moorland and lively streams. This means the options range from Vogt’s specifically described circular routes to a regional route through a variety of landscapes. Check the conditions for your chosen route before setting out.

Trip planning and finding accommodation

When looking for accommodation, your preferred focus can be a useful starting point: do you want your trip to centre more on architectural and art history or on hiking trails? Details about distance, duration and possible shortcuts can help you compare the routes according to your interests.
