Discover Schöllkrippen
Accommodation in Schöllkrippen
Schöllkrippen combines orchard themes with cultural stops along its trails. The orchard experience trail focuses on the orchards and their species, while the cultural circular trails lead to named viewpoints and historic sites. This lets you choose the focus of your stay—nature, culture, or a mix of both.
Orchards and circular trails
East of Schöllkrippen, the orchard experience trail passes through orchards and meadows. Its 14 stops explore the history of how the orchards came into being and have been used, as well as typical plant and animal species. The topics are presented in a fun, interactive way. The approximately two-kilometre circular trail starts above the Schützenhaus, by the Äbbelwoistammtisch Schöllkrippen’s caravan. The trail’s length and stops give it a distinctive natural-history focus.
Another option is the approximately six-kilometre European Cultural Circular Trail Schöllkrippen 2. It starts and ends at the Schöllkrippen natural swimming pool and passes the “Alte Burg” rampart on the Reuschberg. At around six kilometres, it is significantly longer than the approximately two-kilometre orchard trail; at the same time, the Reuschberg and its rampart give it a different focus.
The Pasquillen trail and its stops
The Pasquillen trail is a cultural circular hiking trail in Schöllkrippen. As European Cultural Circular Trail Schöllkrippen 1, it passes the Kalmus viewpoint and the railway station, then continues to the “Dreigestirn” group of buildings: St Luke’s Chapel, the town hall (Old Castle), and Sackhaus. The route connects a viewpoint with three named buildings. This offers a further cultural focus alongside the rampart on the Reuschberg and the nature themes of the orchard experience trail.
This should help you decide whether Schöllkrippen’s nature and cultural trails suit your travel interests.
