Redwitz a.d.Rodach: Markets and riverside paths
Accommodation in Redwitz an der Rodach
Traditional markets, paths through the river landscape and quiet stretches of forest shape the discoveries awaiting you in Redwitz a.d.Rodach. Options range from a walk around the Rodach biotope and cycling routes to a nature trail with views of the Steinach Valley and the Thuringian Forest. You can plan your stay around different interests: the market square, the riverside landscape or forest paths.
Markets and outdoor activities in Redwitz
Traditional markets are held several times a year in the market square and at other locations in town. The former monthly market is no longer part of the program; markets are now held on selected dates throughout the year. If you would like to plan your visit around one, check the event dates before your trip.
Another way to enjoy the outdoors is available not far from the Redwitz open-air swimming pool: on the Flurbereinigungsweg, from Gässla/Weiherdammstraße towards Unterlangenstadt, you can use a skateboard, inline skates, BMX bikes and scooters to try out tricks. The seasonal Redwitz open-air swimming pool has a fully renovated 50-metre sports and swimming pool as well as a children's pool. As facilities may change, it is advisable to check the current information before your visit.
Circular routes at the Rodach biotope
The Redwitz Biotope Loop is a circular route from the market square through the Rodach biotope and Unterlangenstadt, returning to the starting point. The Redwitz section of the Three Rivers Trail Rodach-Steinach-Main starts elsewhere: it runs through Redwitz from the cycle path by the recycling centre, through the Gries, over the Old Rodach Bridge and along the Rodach into the biotope. This gives you two different routes to choose from—a loop starting at the market square and a section that begins on the cycle path.
Explore the diverse river landscape around the biotope on foot or by bike. Further afield in the region, the Three Rivers Trail has shortcuts, access points and places to stop for a meal. These shortcuts, access points and places to stop for a meal are part of the Three Rivers Trail in the wider region. Check local conditions before setting out.
Forest, views and pilgrimage routes
The circular route of the nature trail in Mannsgereuth passes through shady stretches of forest and offers views of the Steinach Valley and the Thuringian Forest. How far you can see depends on conditions along the route. The woodland atmosphere sets this loop apart from the paths around the Rodach biotope, whose landscape can be explored on foot or by bike.
Two pilgrimage routes also pass through Unterlangenstadt, a district of Redwitz: the Ave Maria Route and the Magnificat Route. Together they stretch for around 1,100 kilometres across Upper and Middle Franconia and lead to 40 Marian sites. The two names refer to different routes, while their combined scale conveys the breadth of the pilgrimage network.

The 14-kilometre Pfad der Flechtkultur (Basketry Culture Trail) combines landscapes with the history of crafts. It connects Lichtenfels and Michelau via scenic routes through the Main floodplains. Its 23 information boards cover the history and traditions of basket-making, the basket industry and basket trading along the Upper Main. Near Oberwallenstadt, the trail also includes a willow maze for children, a willow shelter at the river swimming area and a woven tipi at Ortswiesensee Oberwallenstadt.
Choose the mix that suits your trip, and plan each day around the excursions you select.
