Wildlife and nature at Oberreith Wildlife Park

At Oberreith Wildlife Park, a circular trail over 2.4 km long, which is also a nature trail, takes visitors to animal enclosures, aviaries, a pond with a biotope, a show beehive and a petting zoo. Along the way, you can encounter a range of wildlife and nature-related features. If you would like to focus on several stops, you can think of the nature trail as one continuous experience.

The 400-metre-long Flying Fox offers a different kind of experience. It starts from a 35-metre-high observation tower built at the highest point of the grounds. The park’s attractions therefore differ considerably in form: on the one hand, a longer trail with nature stops; on the other, a single attraction with a striking starting point high above the grounds.

Unterreit on the Radlsafari

The “Radlsafari” themed tour passes through Unterreit, among other places. Townscape and culture in Mühldorf Am Inn

The wider destination of Mühldorf Am Inn offers a different focus: its history and architecture. Mühldorf a. Inn’s 500-metre-long town square is lined with colourful façades in the Inn-Salzach architectural style. The square is also home to the Salzburg High Fountain, a gift from Prince-Archbishop Johannes Ernst von Thun of Salzburg in 1692.

The two “Traidkästen”, Haberkasten and Kornkasten, also tell the story of the site’s former use: built as granaries in the 15th century, they have a courtyard between them. Haberkasten was later converted into a cultural centre. Since 1999, the summer festival has been held in the courtyard every year during the first two weeks of July. Together, architecture, historic use and contemporary cultural life give Mühldorf Am Inn a different character from the nature and wildlife experiences in Unterreit.

At the Mühldorf a. Inn History Centre and Museum, the permanent exhibition “Everyday Life, Armour, Extermination” presents the history of the district during the Nazi era. The exhibition “Lifeline Inn” explores how people live alongside the river and how it is managed today. The Kotter Hunting Museum offers a very different perspective: rather than a traditional trophy collection or display of weapons, it takes an irreverent, humorous and at the same time critical look at the hunting scene.

Nature experiences in the wider destination

The Innaue nature trail is also in the wider destination of Mühldorf Am Inn. Its 11 interactive stations connect the town with the local recreation area south of the Inn. The route is a circular trail, educational trail and walking path; it is also described as suitable for pushchairs and family-friendly. This offers another way to include nature and outdoor activity in your stay, distinct from the experiences at Oberreith Wildlife Park.
