Water shapes Kleinzerlang: the village lies on a peninsula surrounded by natural and man-made waterways on 75 percent of its perimeter, and at an important waterway junction. This creates a clear focus for planning a trip, without making the place just a destination for boat trips: a bathing area, paths through the countryside and the history of the village church also offer their own perspectives.

Waterways and Activities on Lake Kleiner Pälitzsee

At the municipal beach, the public landing stage offers electricity, fresh water, toilets and showers; these services may be seasonal. For a longer boating holiday, a circular waterway route of around 520 kilometres can be started in Kleinzerlang. It leads via Lake Kleiner Pälitzsee, the Müritz, the Elbe, the Havel, Berlin’s waterways, and the Lower and Upper Havel Waterway; around twelve days are planned for the circuit. Navigation conditions may vary.

Wolfsbruch Lock adjusts the water level between Lake Großer Prebelowsee and Lake Kleiner Pälitzsee and has been converted to a self-service lock. If you are planning a boat trip, check how it operates. The Rheinsberger Seenkette canoe station is located in Kleinzerlang on Lake Kleiner Pälitzsee at “Boot und Mehr”. It offers paddling, small motorboats and rafts. Its offerings and operating conditions may change, so check what is available before travelling.

The bathing area on Lake Kleiner Pälitzsee is a long stretch of meadow with rows of trees and changing huts. Another natural feature is the “Old Beech” on Neumühler Weg: it consists of seven red beeches that have grown together. At a height of around 1.30 metres, its total circumference is approximately 4.6 metres.

Countryside, Routes and Village History

Kleinzerlang is located in Stechlin-Ruppiner Land Nature Park. Here, recreation, nature-friendly use of land and waterways, and the preservation of regional natural treasures go hand in hand. Overview boards in and around Kleinzerlang show hiking trails; cycle routes pass through meadows, forests, canals and lakes. In the region, Stechlin Running Park offers signposted running and hiking trails with distance markers. When planning, you can distinguish between routes in and around the village and regional routes with marked distances.

The village’s history also offers a tangible point of interest: the village church in Kleinzerlang is listed under inventory number 09170286 in the monument register of the State of Brandenburg. The old bell is considered the oldest object in Kleinzerlang’s church history and has been given a place of honour in the village’s Old Churchyard.

Culture in the Wider Rheinsberg Destination

In the wider Rheinsberg destination, Rheinsberg Palace on Lake Grienerick brings together nature, architecture and art in a single ensemble. The artworks in its rooms convey an impression of the 18th century. In spring and summer, Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg presents an international festival of young opera singers, featuring music theatre and concerts by young artists from around the world. The programme changes from year to year.

When looking for accommodation, you can decide what you want to focus on: should your stay centre on the multi-day waterway circuit, activities on the lake, or walking and cycling routes? Cultural activities in Rheinsberg are a separate theme within the wider destination.
