Arrach brings together a range of travel interests: time by the natural swimming lake, walks and recreational sports, exploring nature in the moor, and discovering local crafts. The Arrach Glass Gate adds a glass monument to the mix. When planning your visit, these offer different focal points rather than one set daily itinerary. The Seepark includes an adventure playground for children and a glass-bead pool for toddlers; walking paths and sports facilities add to the options. If you are looking for accommodation in Arrach, it may help to consider whether water, nature, exercise or culture should shape your stay.

Water and leisure at the Seepark

Opened in 1999, the Seepark recreation complex includes a natural swimming lake, pirate rafts, a water fountain and an anchored swimming island. It also has a sand volleyball court, an adventure playground for children and a glass-bead pool for toddlers. So, alongside its water-based activities, the Seepark also offers facilities for play and exercise.

The grounds also include a kiosk, walking paths and a recreational sports area. Here you will find a grass playing field, a 400-metre tartan running track, a cinder playing field and an all-weather tartan court. If you are planning a visit to the Seepark, you can decide which of its different offerings to focus on: swimming, playing, walking or sports. Check locally for the current availability of individual facilities.

The moor and hiking trails

The Arrach Moor, with its Moor Nature Trail, can be accessed from the Seepark. A wooden boardwalk lets you explore the nature reserve. One specific guided route is the approximately three-kilometre Klima-Terrain-Weg (Climate and Terrain Trail): it leads from the Arrach Seepark through the moor to the energy park at Gut Kleß and is accompanied by hiking guides. For exploring nature, you can choose between access to the educational trail and a guided tour with a specified starting point and destination.

Arrach is a recognised health resort, offers a total of 90 kilometres of marked hiking trails and lies directly on the GOLDSTEIG quality hiking trail. These figures refer to different scales: around three kilometres is the length of the Klima-Terrain-Weg, while 90 kilometres refers to the entire marked trail network. You can therefore consider a specific guided route and the wider hiking offer as different options. Check current trail conditions before setting out. For the guided tour, check the dates and registration requirements in advance. Information about dates and guided tours in the moor is available from the Arrach Tourist Information Office.

Crafts and glass as cultural themes

The Bayerwald Handicrafts Museum at Drexler-Hof in Arrach showcases local trades: shoemakers, woodturners, broom makers, carpenters, blacksmiths and schnapps distillers. The collection includes more than 2,000 exhibits, tools and machines. The range of trades gives the museum a specific focus on local craftsmanship; the collection complements the individual trades with numerous exhibits and pieces of equipment.

The Arrach Glass Gate is a glass monument that was installed in Arrach in 1997 to mark the inauguration of the Glass Road. Compared with the museum’s extensive collection, it is a single cultural monument with a clearly stated date. Crafts and glass therefore offer distinct points of interest: on the one hand, a variety of trades and exhibits; on the other, a named monument associated with the inauguration of the Glass Road.

Choose accommodation to suit your travel interests
