Discover Lam: Panoramic Trail, Wood and Legends
Accommodation in Lam
Lam is one of the three places in the Lamer Winkel; the region also includes Arrach and Lohberg. In Lam, different themes offer ways to explore the landscape and regional stories: an 8 km panoramic circular trail with views as far as the GroĂer Arber, a themed trail about wood, and a legends trail with signs about stories from the Lamer Winkel and the Bavarian Forest. This selection offers practical starting points for planning your trip: you can shape your stay around landscape views, wood as a theme or regional legends.
Panoramic views on a circular walk
The 8 km circular trail âLa02 (Panorama Trail)â starts at the Lam Tourist Information Office. From there, it follows the pavement along Lambacher StraĂe to Oberschmelz. The return route goes via Himmelreich, Buchet, the FĂŒrstenzeche mine, BerghĂ€usl and Daxenhof to the Tourist Information Office. Along the way, a narrow path at the edge of the forest passes through Himmelreich, Buchet, the FĂŒrstenzeche mine and BerghĂ€usl; there are repeated views of the Bavarian Forest mountains, reaching as far as the GroĂer Arber. The trailâs length, route and named places give this walk a clearly defined focus for an outing in which the landscape and panoramic views play an important role.
Wood as a theme, legends as companions
The themed trail âRund ums Holz Lam-Lohbergâ (All About Wood, Lam-Lohberg) passes through the villages of Lam and Lohberg. It explores wood as a basis for producing commercial goods, as a source of energy and as a raw material for creative work. These three perspectives range from production and use as an energy source to creative work. Unlike the Panorama Trail, this trail focuses on a material. If you would also like to discover regional themes during your trip, you can make this trail a focus of a separate outing.
The âSAGENhafte Rundweg âLaââ (Legendary Circular Trail âLaâ) offers a different thread of stories. From Lam Panoramapark, it runs along EngelshĂŒtter StraĂe via HolzmĂŒhle, EngelshĂŒtt and GinglmĂŒhle, returning to the park. Signs along the trail tell legends from the Lamer Winkel and the Bavarian Forest. The circular trail is suitable for pushchairs. This distinguishes it from La02 when planning your trip: the legends trail is characterised by regional stories and its suitability for pushchairs, while the Panorama Trail is characterised by its 8 km length and recurring views.
Getting your bearings and planning your trip
Lam Panorama Park is intended to provide a connection close to nature. It is designed to create as natural a link as possible between the market square and the leisure facilities: the indoor swimming pool, outdoor swimming pool and playground.
When looking for accommodation in Lam, it is worth first deciding what kind of trip you want. Would you like the Panorama Trail to be the main focus, are you interested in the trail about wood, or would you like to plan a pushchair-friendly legends trail? These interests can guide your excursion planning before you choose accommodation.
