Oberpframmern: Country Lanes, Cycling and Hiking
Accommodation in Oberpframmern
Country lanes in the eastern part of the municipality, small ponds and a 4.1 km walking and cycling path give you several specific reasons to spend time outdoors in Oberpframmern. There is also a hiking programme open to non-members and a winter activity that depends on the weather. Your plans might therefore range from long walks and cycle rides to an outing on a set date or when snow conditions are suitable.
Exploring on foot and by bike
Numerous country lanes and a few small ponds in the eastern part of the municipality invite you to enjoy long walks and cycle rides. If you would like to include a route with set endpoints in your plans, you can find one at the western edge of the village: the 4.1 km walking and cycling path connects this point with the roundabout on Harthauser StraĂźe. It was officially opened in September 2025 and can be used by pedestrians and cyclists.
The TSV Oberpframmern hiking programme is also open to non-members. The programme is listed for 2026; individual outings and dates may change. Check the specific dates before making firm plans for a hike. This makes it easier to decide whether an independent walk or an event from the club programme is a better fit for your planned days.
Cross-country skiing depends on the weather
When weather conditions allow, TSV Oberpframmern tries to prepare a cross-country ski trail by the forest. Cross-country skiing is therefore a seasonal option, and whether it is available depends on the weather. This is a different starting point for planning than an outing on foot or by bike: for a winter day, keep in mind that the activity is not available regardless of snow and weather conditions.
More to discover in the wider Ebersberg destination
There is an observation tower in the Ebersberg Forest, where 169 steps lead to sweeping views across the entire Alpine foothills, from the Berchtesgaden Alps to the Allgäu. On particularly clear days, you can even see distant peaks over 3,000 metres high. The Museum of Forest and the Environment has been located right next to the Ebersberg Forest since 2004. It explores the history of forest use and forest ecology.
The Ebersberg Forest Environmental Education Centre also focuses on nature and learning. The centre holds the Bavarian quality seal “Umweltbildung.Bayern” and offers events on education for sustainable development. These mostly take place outdoors and in the adjoining forest; visits with school classes or other groups are possible. In the wider Ebersberg destination, this means that educational activities are another distinct theme for an outing alongside outdoor pursuits.
Culture, tradition and regional cuisine
In the wider Ebersberg destination, the Perchten run in Kirchseeon is a fixture of the pre-Christmas season and attracts many visitors every year. Elaborate masks and costumes, drums and bells shape the atmosphere in the town of Kirchseeon. Its recurring date and impressive processions make it a different kind of seasonal experience from weather-dependent outdoor winter activities.
In the wider Ebersberg destination, Herrmannsdorfer hosts a large farm festival once a year for the Harvest Festival. The programme includes fire-pit specialities, porchetta, pastrami and bratwurst, as well as fresh Auszogne pastries and freshly tapped Schweinsbräu beer. The barns and workshops also open their doors. The festival thus combines regional food with insights into the work carried out on site.
History and museums in the Ebersberg destination
The towns of Poing and Grafing also offer different ways to explore history. A branch of the Roman road led to Roman farmsteads in Poing, discovered during construction work in 2004. The Grafing City Museum’s special and permanent exhibitions offer insights into artistic highlights from the surrounding area, as well as the lives and work of people in and around Grafing. Opening hours are listed as Thursday from 6 to 8 pm and Sunday from 2 to 4 pm; the museum is closed on public holidays. Check the opening hours before your visit, as they may change.
Elkofen Castle is in Unterelkofen, two kilometres south of Grafing town centre. The castle is one of the best-preserved in Upper Bavaria and is surrounded by a wide, deep moat that was once filled with water. The historic moat and the castle’s setting offer another contrast to the museum and nature themes in the wider Ebersberg destination.
