Feucht combines distinctive local history with trails and experiences for a range of interests: museums, three historic manor houses, a birdwatching trail and a running and walking course each have their own appeal. This lets you plan your trip around culture, nature observation or exercise. The specific themes also offer families plenty to talk about, from regional art to birdsong.

Museums, manor houses and a historic ensemble

Since 1984, the Zeidel Museum has been housed in the Hutzlerhaus, which belongs to the Feucht market municipality. In two ground-floor rooms of the museum, a private supporting association presents changing exhibitions by artists from the region. The historic museum setting and changing art exhibitions bring together different perspectives. Another perspective is offered by the Hermann Oberth Spaceflight Museum, founded in 1971 and dedicated to the life’s work of Professor Hermann Oberth (1894–1989).

The history of architecture can also be seen in several places. Feucht is home to Zeidler Castle, Pfinzing Castle and Tucher Castle. The latter took its present form in 1590/91, based on one of the former manor houses owned by Nuremberg patricians in Feucht. During the 18th century, the garden at Tucher Castle was redesigned as a Baroque garden.

Another architectural ensemble comprises the church, the Old Smithy and the sexton’s house, formerly Feucht’s schoolhouse. It is complemented by the Baroque rectory, dating from 1732, in the adjoining parish garden. Those interested in local history will find a range of points of interest, from an individual historic building to a garden and an ensemble of several buildings. Tour guide Daniela Semann offers guided tours in Feucht.

Birdsong and trails through Feucht

The birdwatching trail has nine stops with information about local bird species, their way of life, food and breeding seasons. Birdsong can be heard at every stop. The trail starts at the junction of Crottendorfer Weg and Altdorfer StraĂźe and ends at Sparkassenplatz. If you are travelling with children who are interested in birds, the stops can encourage you to explore the different topics together in more detail.

For exercise, the Feucht running and walking course offers twelve routes with a total length of 69.5 kilometres. Routes can be shortened or extended by combining them with another route, starting from any of four access points in Feucht. This gives you different options when planning, without having to commit to a single route duration.

Cycling, swimming and regional perspectives

Cycling enthusiasts will also find a specific point of interest: Feucht lies on Stage 4 of the Sinnes cycle route, which runs from Feucht to Schnaittach. At Feuchtasia, the sports pool has a water surface of more than 1,000 square metres and is suitable for swimming laps. Alongside the historic sites and birdwatching trail, this gives you further options to consider when planning your day.

Those also considering the wider destination of Nürnberger Land will find more than 3,000 kilometres of well-marked hiking trails and well-maintained cycling routes, with varying levels of difficulty. Nürnberger Land is part of the Franconian Switzerland–Franconian Jura Nature Park. When looking for accommodation in Feucht, you could first consider whether you want to plan your stay mainly around local history, birdwatching or exercise.
