Circular routes starting at the town hall and traces of the historic Golden Trail give Hutthurm two specific starting points for your trip: outdoor activity and history. To plan your stay, you can choose from various routes and additional excursions in the wider Passau destination.

Circular routes starting at the town hall

The approximately 7 km Hutthurm–Fuchsmühle–Auretzdorf circular route starts at the car park by the town hall. Another option on foot is the approximately 14 km circular route from Hutthurm to the Kremplsberg viewpoint and back. This tour also starts at the town hall in Hutthurm. The two routes offer a clear choice of distance: a shorter loop or a longer route with a named viewpoint as its destination.

The Hutthurm–Kremplsberg circular route includes further specific stops: it passes the Dachsberg Chapel and its spring water. This means the route to the viewpoint also includes a stop at the chapel. When planning your day, you can take these stops into account along with the route length.

Cycling and regional routes

For a cycling trip, a 26.5 km Ilz–Danube–Ilz circular route is listed from Hutthurm. It offers a different route option from the walking trails. If you are planning a family trip, the range of activities and route lengths can help you put together a shared itinerary based on your own interests, without making every excursion the same kind of activity.

Kalteneck is another useful reference point for planning routes: the town is the endpoint of the Danube–Ilz Cycle Route and a hub for cycling tours and hikes between the Bavarian Forest and Passau. This adds a broader perspective on cycling and hiking options to the specific circular routes in Hutthurm.

Hutthurm and the historic Golden Trail

Hutthurm lay on the historic Golden Trail. This historic connection gives the town another dimension alongside its present-day circular routes. If you would like to do more than spend time outdoors on your trip, you can also combine your tour planning with the history of the Golden Trail. Together with the routes starting at the town hall, this offers a varied way to discover Hutthurm: through the landscape on a circular walk or through the town’s historical significance.
