Where the Teisnach River flows into the Schwarzer Regen, Teisnach lies in the Donau-Wald region and the Bavarian Forest Nature Park. Its riverside location and hiking trails provide a specific setting for a trip into nature.

Riverside Location and Landscape

The Pfahl also runs through part of the municipality. The market town of Teisnach is also a municipality along the new long-distance beer trail. In this way, a connection to the landscape and a themed hiking trail complement its location at the river confluence.

Hiking in Teisnach

The signposted hiking trail from Teisnach to Ayrhof runs via Fernsdorf and is 6.0 kilometers long. Bayerisch Kanada runs from the Waldbahn stop in Gumpenried to Teisnach railway station; the route is 6.5 kilometers long and takes about two hours. The section of the riverside hiking trail from Gumpenried to Teisnach, or in the opposite direction, is family-friendly and also suitable for less experienced hikers. When choosing a tour, you can distinguish between specific route distances and the expressly stated suitability of this section for families and less experienced hikers.

Road connections are also useful for getting around: The municipality of Teisnach is very well connected to the regional road network via the B11 and B85 federal highways.

You can also explore history in Regen: Regular public tours introduce the beer and ice cellars as the historic “Regener Underworld” and explain their history.

Geological and natural landscape features come together at Weißenstein. The quartz rocks near Weißenstein Castle ruins were placed under nature conservation in 1940 because of their geological importance. The Pfahl at Weißenstein is an important habitat for rare heat- and drought-loving animal and plant species adapted to nutrient-poor locations.

For sports activities, skates and equipment can be rented on site at the Regen Ice Sports Center. The Grubhügel cross-country ski trail can be used for both skating and classic diagonal-stride techniques. Thus, the wider Regen destination offers historical tours, nature-related attractions and sports activities as well as hikes.

Choosing accommodation to suit your plans
