Langen: Stille Pauline, village church and protected farmsteads
Accommodation in Langen
Langen brings together a cycling route on a former railway line, a protected churchyard ensemble, several protected farmsteads and a waterway rest area. These offer a range of themes: the cycling route, the listed groups of buildings and the floating dock at the water’s edge.
Cycling the Stille Pauline
The former railway embankment known as the “Stille Pauline” is now a cycling route. It runs from Paulinenaue via Dammkrug and Langen to Neuruppin and lies mostly on the former railway line. For cycle tourists, the route’s combination of a former railway line and its current use is a distinctive feature. The protected groups of buildings also offer a cultural and historical perspective on Langen. You can choose your travel theme based on whether you are mainly interested in including a cycling route or in the village’s architectural features.
Village church, ensemble and farmsteads
The protected churchyard ensemble in Langen comprises the village church with its churchyard portal and wall, as well as the cemetery chapel and fire station. It is listed in the Brandenburg State Monument Register as of January 1, 2026. Stüler’s Church in Langen is also one of the largest village churches in the state of Brandenburg. The church, portal, wall, chapel and fire station make clear that the ensemble includes more than just the village church.
Protected groups of buildings with different components are also listed in Dorfstraße. At Dorfstraße 17 in Langen is a protected residential building with boundary enclosure, described as the former manor’s farm building. The protected farmstead at Dorfstraße 28 comprises a residential building, two stable buildings, a barn and the paved courtyard. At Dorfstraße 71 is a protected parsonage farmstead with a parsonage and two farm buildings. These groups of buildings are also listed in the Brandenburg State Monument Register as of January 1, 2026. The types mentioned differ: a residential building with boundary enclosure, a farmstead with several buildings, and a parsonage farmstead with farm buildings.
Waterfront and bus services
The Langen waterway rest area adds a specific waterside location to the cycling and cultural attractions. As of August 31, 2026, the site has a floating dock with access for boarding and disembarking directly at the water’s edge. For waterway travellers, this access point is a practical landmark and a distinct attraction alongside the cycling route and protected buildings.
As of August 31, 2026, the “Langen, Dorfstraße,” “Langen, Kirche” and “Langen, Neubau” stops are served by ORP buses within the VBB network from Monday to Friday. Connections to Neuruppin and Kremmen are available in Fehrbellin. If you are including a bus journey in your travel plans, check the timetable for the day in question.
Fehrbellin as the wider destination
The wider destination of Fehrbellin offers additional cycling and architectural attractions. The 25-kilometre “Rund um Fehrbellin” cycling tour starts and ends in Fehrbellin. The 65-kilometre “Geschichtstour” starts at the Tourist Information office in the town library, right next to Fehrbellin Town Hall. The two routes can therefore be distinguished by their described format: a 25-kilometre loop or a 65-kilometre tour with a specified starting point.
Fehrbellin Town Church is 41 metres high, Neo-Gothic and built to plans by Friedrich August Stüler. It is a distinct architectural attraction in the wider destination; the church, farmsteads and cycling route in Langen remain separate features of the village. When choosing your travel theme, you can distinguish between the specific attractions in Langen and Fehrbellin’s own routes and cultural sites.
