Accommodation in Hüttengesäß
Half-timbered houses, a Protestant church and a signposted circular hiking trail shape Hüttengesäß in different ways. The town center highlights the settlement’s history, while trails pass scenic spots and offer far-reaching views. When planning your trip, it is therefore worth exploring the town itself as well as the additional attractions in the wider travel destination of Ronneburg.
A historic town center
In the historic town center, a Protestant church stands among old half-timbered houses, some of which are listed buildings. The settlement was first mentioned in a document on May 26, 1151. Another historical reference dates to March 1462: during Landgrave Ludwig’s campaign in the Büdingen area, men took refuge in the church tower in Hüttengesäß. These two milestones span the period from the settlement’s first documented mention to a specific event in the 15th century.
Walking trails and countryside
A signposted circular hiking trail starts at the sports ground in Hüttengesäß. It passes a riding area, a fishpond, the former Ronneburgring, the Ravolzhausen quarry, Jungen Wald and Marienstraße before returning to the starting point. The route offers attractive views and is easy to walk. Since it starts and ends at the sports ground, this circular tour is easy to fit into your day’s plans.
A separate field path runs alongside the Hüttengesäß bypass, which was newly built in 2013, and is well suited to walking and cycling. A hiking trail along the Fallbach reaches the entrance to Hüttengesäß after 1.8 kilometers.
A short, easy detour of about 500 meters leads to the “Am Pfingstberg” viewpoint. From there, the panoramic view extends across the Vogelsberg, Spessart and Taunus as far as Frankfurt. At a crossroads, one path branches off toward the fishpond and another toward the grounds of a bird-protection group. The path also reaches the former Ravolzhausen quarry.
