Nustrow draws attention to a Neoclassical manor house, a listed park and distinctive garden features. The manor estate brings together architectural history and landscape as different points of interest for your stay. Whether you are more interested in architecture, walks or a visit to a café, the local experiences offer a range of highlights.

Manor House and Traces of the Former Castle

Nustrow Manor House is a Neoclassical mansion. Severin had it built in 1830 on the ring walls of a former moated castle complex. Its architectural history thus brings together the Neoclassical form of the mansion and its earlier connection to the castle site. For anyone interested in culture, this offers a tangible link between architectural style and local history.

Historic ceiling paintings can be seen in the manor house’s ballroom, which can accommodate up to 90 people. A remnant of the artificial ditches and ramparts of the former Nustrow Castle has also survived; it is known as the Wallgraben. Alongside the manor house, this remnant also points to the older castle complex.

Park, Blossoms and Garden Features

The park of Nustrow Manor covers almost ten hectares and is listed as a historic site. The park, located right beside the manor house, invites visitors to take a stroll. This adds a landscape perspective to the architecture. Every year, the tulip tree blossoms in Nustrow Park, adding a recurring seasonal highlight. Gut Nustrow also has a fragrant rose garden surrounded by old fruit trees.

You can focus on these impressions in different ways, depending on your interests: the history of the mansion and former castle offers a cultural focus, while the park and rose garden invite you to appreciate the gardens and landscape. If you would like to add a walk to your trip, the park is one of the local options.

Café and Tea Pavilion

The café in the slate-roofed mansion at Gut Nustrow serves tortes, cakes and a range of coffee specialities. Cakes, tea and coffee are served in the restored tea pavilion in the manor house’s orchard. The two places offer different settings: the café is in the mansion, while the pavilion is in the orchard. If you would like to include a coffee break in your stay, you can choose between these two offerings.

A Tour and More Destinations in the Rostock Travel Region

The Kleine Gutshaustour (Small Manor House Tour) starts and ends in Nustrow, and finishes at Nustrow Manor with its landscaped park. Nustrow is therefore part of the tour both as its starting and ending point and as the destination at the manor estate. You can consider this as a separate day-trip option alongside a walk in the park right beside the manor house.

The wider Rostock travel region offers further, independent nature and culture themes. At Wildpark-MV, visitors can explore the park on their own or join guided walks, including wolf, owl and evening walks. The Sternberger Seenland Nature Park offers a different landscape, with deeply incised breakthrough valleys along the Warnow, numerous lakes, picturesque hills and extensive forests; hiking and cycling are particularly popular there.

Also in the wider Rostock travel region is the Volhynian Resettlers Museum in Linstow. Tours for groups and individuals use ethnographic objects, photos and documents to present the history of the Volhynian Germans, from the mid-19th century to their settlement in Mecklenburg after the Second World War. The region therefore offers nature experiences and historical interpretation for different interests.

When choosing accommodation, it helps to consider what you would like your trip to focus on: Nustrow, with its manor house, park and garden features, or other nature and culture destinations in the wider Rostock travel region. Tailor your search to the places and experiences you would like to include in your plans.
