Brauneberg combines a distinctive vineyard landscape with trails focused on winegrowing and nature, as well as traces of the past in the village. The Brauneberger Juffer, a Roman wine press and historic doors each add a different touch. You can shape your stay around the things that interest you most: outdoor activities, wine or culture.

Vineyards and trails with different themes

The Brauneberger Juffer comprises south-facing vineyards with gradients of up to 87 percent. This steep slope is a distinctive feature of the landscape. On the edge of the village, the short Weinkundeweg circular trail passes themed information boards. They focus on the work of winegrowers throughout the year, giving the walk a winegrowing theme.

The forest nature trail offers a different focus: it is about 3 kilometres long and features more than 60 information boards with insights into local plants and environmental topics. This lets you compare two different themes on a walk: the year-round work in the vineyards, and the local flora and environmental topics of the forest. Check the trail signs and access before setting out.

Roman and architectural traces

At the foot of the steep south-facing slope of the Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr, opposite Brauneberg, lies the Brauneberg Roman wine press. Dating from the 2nd century, this Roman wine press connects the wine landscape with a tangible testament to its long history.

There are details to discover in the village, too: look for more than 100 Renaissance or Baroque doors in half-timbered and stone houses. The former Franciscan monastery is now the Catholic parish church of St. Joseph; the church also has a remarkable crypt. If you would like to see the inside of the crypt, check access before your visit.

The Nussbaumallee is said to be the longest walnut avenue on the Moselle. Its trees are up to 300 years old, and the tree canopy makes the avenue a pleasant place to linger. This more tranquil landscape complements the steep vineyards and the search for clues in the village houses, offering another perspective on Brauneberg.

Wine tastings and other activities

Brauneberg wineries offer wine tastings, some of them in several languages. A tasting can be combined with a regional menu and a cellar tour. Check booking options before your visit. If you would like to help with the grape harvest, you can do so on request; confirm seasonal availability in advance.

For another activity in the village, there is the ChriJus mini-golf course: the modern facility is in the centre of the village at the Alter Festplatz. Check operating details before planning your visit. The tourist information office also offers bicycle rental, including e-bikes. Before your trip, check the current rental options and operating details.

You can tailor your accommodation search in Brauneberg to the experiences you would like to include in your trip.
