Nasingen combines the landscape of the South Eifel Nature Park with a rich village history. Gentle hills and dense forests characterize the surroundings; the branch church of St. Mary stands in the village center. Numerous hiking trails nearby provide access to the varied landscape of the South Eifel, while the church’s architectural history offers a cultural-history highlight. If you are weighing up different interests for your trip, you will find two distinct perspectives here: time outdoors and the history of a specific village building.

Hiking trails through the South Eifel landscape

The area around Nasingen is characterized by gentle hills and dense forests. Numerous hiking trails lead through the varied landscape of the South Eifel around the village. Gorges and natural monuments are also popular destinations in the region. This means that trip planning can include not only individual trails but also a range of natural features.

One specific hike is the Muxerath Circular Hiking Trail: this 15.7-kilometer loop is associated with Nasingen. The distance provides a clearly defined route, while the network of trails in the surrounding area offers further hiking options. Check the latest route details before setting out, as route information may change.

Church history in the village

The branch church of St. Mary stands in the village center, right beside the main road. Johann Mayer and Katharina Munkler of Nasingen built it in 1868 in honor of the Virgin Mary. Architecturally, the church is considered a post-Baroque hall church with a roof turret. Its Marian altar was brought to Nasingen from the parish church in Neuerburg; it was originally created in 1761/1762 by the sculptor Eberhard Hennes of Neuerburg. The 1868 church building thus stands alongside an altar that is more than a century older.

The Nasingen Chapel is located on Muxerath Hill in Nasingen. In the past, every Saturday in May, a procession followed the Messepfad from Koxhausen to Nasingen. This procession is part of the village’s history and should be distinguished from today’s hiking opportunities.
