Mill history and peaceful natural spots
The Atzelgift Mill is a historic mill site with several layers of history: the residential building dates from 1908, while the brick mill building was rebuilt after a fire in 1949. The mill operated until 1965; its water power continues to generate electricity. Its former use and an ongoing technical function thus coexist.
The Heuzeroth lime tree stands on Marienstätter Straße. It is a notable natural monument in Atzelgift and a peaceful place for a short stop for walkers and nature enthusiasts. The Atzelgift forest chapel is a simple half-timbered chapel in the woods. It was built in 1996 to mark the village’s 600th anniversary. An entrance to the Adolf-Erbstollen mine was once located nearby. As a peaceful place, the chapel appeals to hikers, walkers and other visitors.
Westerwald: more highlights for your trip
