Bad Muskau invites you to combine striking park views with unusual details of garden culture. The cast-iron Carp Bridge stands at the confluence of the Hermannsneiße, offering a postcard view of the New Palace. Several greenhouses and a kitchen garden are part of the restored palace nursery. Pineapples are also cultivated there again using Pückler’s methods. The bridge and the nursery offer contrasting highlights: a scenic view in one place, a landscaped garden and a surprising cultivated plant in the other.

Muskau Park: Garden Spaces and Waterside Views

The German section of Muskau Park comprises the palace park, spa park and mountain park. The Polish section includes the lower park, arboretum and Braunsdorf Fields. In the northern part of the park, trails run along Lake Eichsee to seating areas and a small waterfall. The park can thus be explored not only through its named areas, but also through smaller waterside destinations along the trails.

Public park tours meet at the Muskau Park Tourist Centre at 2 pm on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from April to October. They last approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. If you plan to join a tour, check the date before travelling. Trails and cycling routes offer another way to explore the park: it can be reached by bicycle via the Oder–Neisse Cycle Route, the Prince Pückler Route and the Frog Cycle Route.

Cycling is permitted and recommended in most areas of the park, with some restricted areas excluded. Bicycles can be rented at Schlossvorwerk, though opening hours and availability may change. Carriage rides also depart from Schlossvorwerk. Advance booking is required, and availability depends on the operator. These options are organised differently: cycling is permitted in most of the park, while carriage rides must be booked in advance.

On the Neisse and Aboard the Forest Railway

A seasonal inflatable boat trip starts at the old weir near the Orangery and follows the Neisse to Żarki Wielkie. The trip takes approximately two and a half hours; return transport is by minibus. The service also depends on the operator, so check before travelling whether the trip is running on your chosen date. For a different way to get there, you can take the Forest Railway from Weißwasser to Bad Muskau between April and October. Here, too, it is advisable to check operating dates in advance.

Moor, Thermal Water and Wellness

Bad Muskau’s natural therapeutic resources include moor, saline thermal water and a therapeutic climate. The Kulturhotel Fürst Pückler Park offers therapeutic treatments, certified wellness and prevention programmes, as well as health and wellness stays featuring moor and saline thermal water. Hotel offers and programmes may change, so check the current services for your preferred travel dates. This allows you to include a wellness focus in your travel plans alongside park and nature experiences.

You can also plan your time around specific differences: a public park tour lasts approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, while the inflatable boat trip takes around 2.5 hours and is seasonal and operator-dependent. Choose activities you actually plan to do, and check their dates before travelling.
