Weinböhla combines viticulture, a long-established local history and marked trails. Wine was already being grown here in 1513; the climatically favorable southern slopes encouraged its cultivation. Today, around 25 hectares of vines are cultivated. Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Blanc, Traminer, Pinot Noir and Dornfelder grow on the terraces of the Ratsweinberg. The town’s profile also includes its status as a state-recognized health resort; the municipality confirmed this on 4 May 2026.

Vineyards, Views and Townscape

The Wartturm stands above the Ratsweinberg at 211 meters above sea level. From there, the vineyard-framed view stretches across the Elbe Valley from Meißen to Radebeul. The tower can be visited at any time of day. Marked trails also lead to towers and vineyards, with views extending from the Elbe Valley near Meißen to the Lusatian Mountains. This lets you combine vineyard scenery with exercise, without limiting your route to a single viewpoint.

The historic town center also has its own character: it retains the form of a circular village. At the church square, the historic ballroom of the Zentralgasthof is part of the ensemble of cultural monuments. The village pond is set within a park, and the uncovered Gabenreichbach stream flows through the grounds. These places offer contrasting highlights of local history, architecture and open landscapes.

History at the Peterkeller

The local history museum in the historic Peterkeller winery is dedicated to the history of the town and viticulture, and hosts changing special exhibitions. The building complex dates from 1622, while the museum’s half-timbered main building dates from 1794. More than 600 historic objects are on display. At the Peterkeller, the history of viticulture and changing exhibition themes are both in the spotlight.
