Trails, Angeln and the coast

Cycling and hiking routes run through the hilly landscape of Angeln, giving your stay a clear focus on outdoor activities. The Flensburg Fjord offers a different kind of scenery. There is a bathing beach in Dollerupholz on the fjord’s southern coast. An impressive steep coast shapes the shoreline there. The beach has a free car park with toilets; a small path leads from the car park towards the beach. Picnic seating and an outdoor shower complete the facilities. Check the local information about these facilities before your visit.

The Dollerup Distillery

The Dollerup Distillery is considered an attraction that draws visitors from beyond the region and Germany’s northernmost distillery. Fruit brandies have been made there since 2003; it also produces German whisky, rum and gin. When available, the distillery uses ingredients gathered from nature in Schleswig-Holstein. At the Bioland-certified farm shop, you can sample and buy hand-bottled spirits; the range also includes regional honeys, speciality vinegars and wines. The distillery also offers an introduction to the distilling process, lasting about an hour, with tastings of the spirits produced. Sampling and shopping are the focus at the farm shop; the introduction adds insights into production to the tasting. Tours are available during shop opening hours. Check the current opening hours in advance and ask about the availability of the introduction.

Nature, history and local traditions

The Langballigau Valley nature reserve runs through Dollerup, providing a distinctive natural feature alongside the trails and coast. Dollerup’s history dates back to the Middle Ages; the municipality was part of the Danish Duchy of Schleswig. Local traditions include Easter bonfires, raising the maypole and a village festival. Historical connections and local customs thus stand side by side as distinct cultural aspects of the village.
