Alt Krenzlin: Circular Village History and Culture
Accommodation in Alt Krenzlin
Alt Krenzlin brings village history together with cultural venues and meeting places. In Klein Krams, the layout of a classic circular village can still be seen today. Loosen was also originally laid out as a circular village; it is also considered the oldest and highest-lying place in the municipality of Alt Krenzlin, at 54 m above sea level. Anyone interested in how settlements have developed will find a clear thread here to guide their exploration of the municipality.
Local History and Culture
The Krenzliner Hütte originated as a peat-glassworks established in 1743 on the Klein Kramser peat bog. The glassworks was closed in 1779; only the place name and the field name Glasschmelze remain. This history gives the place name a specific historical connection.
The kramserei reveals another facet of local history: this cultural venue is housed in a historic hall farmhouse with a hall and stage, stable and coach house. Its offerings include a clay workshop, theatre, live radio plays and cinema. There is also a garden café, farm shop, stallBistro, trödeltenne, market days, and rooms for seminars and workshops. In Alt Krenzlin, village history and a varied cultural program sit side by side.
Village Festivals and Community Events
Since 1982, a village festival for all districts of the municipality has traditionally been held in the potato hall of Agrarproduktion Alt Krenzlin e.G. in Krenzliner Hütte. Oktoberfest also marks a distinct time and place: it was held for the third year in a row on 13 September 2025 at the village community center in Loosen. On 30 April 2026, a decorated maypole was erected again in Alt Krenzlin, as in the previous year.
The now-traditional Children's Day party is organized every year by Alt Krenzlin, Glaisin, Göhlen and Leussow. The event on 7 June 2026 in Klein Krams included activities such as archery and activities with the fire brigade. For planning a trip with children, these specific dates and activities offer a different point of reference from the local history and the kramserei's offerings.
Rest Stops and Routes
In Klein Krams Ausbau, a weather shelter offers a direct view of the Ludwigslust Canal and the biotope around the fish ladder. The small shelter is intended as a possible stopping point for walkers and cyclists from the surrounding villages and municipalities, as well as for farm-stay guests. A designated bridleway from the stud farm in Neustadt Dosse to Redefin passes right by it. The cycle path between Göhlen and Leussow also gives cyclists the option of making a detour to Klein Krams Ausbau.
There is also a place to take a break in Alt Krenzlin: the rest and seating area by the bus turning loop was inaugurated on 7 March 2024. It has play equipment, a bench and three newly planted trees; one section is fenced off for safety reasons. The area was created as a place for visitors, cyclists and hikers to rest and spend time. As well as culture and village events, you can therefore plan your stay around the rest stops described here.
If you are looking for accommodation, you can match your priorities to the different themes in Alt Krenzlin: local history and the cultural venue, village events, or routes and rest stops. This way, your search starts with what you would like to discover during your stay.
