Neverin combines local history with a Bürgerpark by Haussee Lake and a local leisure centre. The granary, church and water tower tell the story of the village’s historic buildings; the park is a place for walks, relaxing and playing. There are also sports and leisure facilities at the KTO, as well as cultural activities organised by the village club.

Local history between the granary, church and water tower

The granary and the church are among the buildings in Neverin that bear witness to the village’s historic architecture. The water tower tells another defining chapter: today, it is protected as an industrial monument. The estate owner Jasper von Behr-Negendank had it built. During a comprehensive renovation, the tower was fitted with sturdy metal-grate staircases and opened to visitors for the first time. To mark the water tower’s 100th anniversary, the municipality dedicated an information board to visitors, with key dates from its history.

You can also encounter the village’s history in the Bürgerpark. A board beside the old Knight’s Oak provides information about the former motte-and-bailey castle. The spot now known as “Liebesinsel” (“Love Island”) was once where it stood. This lets you combine a visit to Haussee Lake with a look at the historical interpretation of the site.

Haussee Lake, the BĂĽrgerpark and the KTO

The Bürgerpark stretches around Haussee Lake, which invites you to relax, stroll, unwind and play right in the middle of the village. Here, the water and park offer a different focus for your visit than the village’s buildings: you can make spending time outdoors the main part of your stay while also taking in the information board about local history. Across the municipality of Neverin, the landscape of the villages is also shaped by Neveriner See and the two Hausseen.

The KTO is Neverin’s local leisure centre and offers sports and recreational activities. It can also be rented for events and seminars; if you are planning to do so, check the rental terms in advance. A cycle rest area with seating has been set up at the sports ground by the KTO. A July 2023 article reported that it is also open to people who are not travelling by bike. The KTO therefore offers both a place for leisure activities and a spot to take a break.

Cultural life in the village

In coordination with the municipality, Neveriner Dorfclub KTO e.V. plays a leading role in the village’s cultural life. The club contributes to community life with a wide range of activities and events. One specific example from 2025 was the third garden walk with a plant swap in Neverin. It was also open to people who were not members of the village club.

More nature experiences in the Mecklenburg Lake District

The wider travel destination of the Mecklenburg Lake District offers another dimension to your trip planning. MĂĽritz National Park is part of this region, whose landscape is shaped by forests, bogs, lakes and expansive meadows. The MĂĽritz National Park Hiking Trail explores the area over nine stages, passing lakes, ancient forests and inland dunes, and leading to the source of the Havel. Certified nature and landscape guides offer informative tours through the national park, including guided walks in the UNESCO World Heritage beech forest of Serrahn and tours from the water.

The Damerower Werder bison reserve offers a different kind of nature experience. It is located on a peninsula in Lake Kölpin, in the Mecklenburg Lake District and the Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heide Nature Park. Visitors can observe bison there. The forest adventure trail features climbing opportunities, an ant house, an exhibition with tactile and visual information boards, and a dendrophone. Compared with Neverin’s local history, Bürgerpark and KTO, the focus here is on walking, guided nature experiences or wildlife watching.
