Glacial ground moraine formed the hilly terrain; there is also the lake near Plath, horse-related activities and concerts. The interplay between experiencing the landscape and exploring the culture gives Lindetal several different facets.

Riding lessons, as well as horse-drawn wagon and carriage rides, are other options in Lindetal; each offers a different focus from a stay by the water. Concerts for residents and visitors are held at the Plather Vier-Winde-Hof. As the program and access may vary, check the dates and visiting arrangements in advance if you plan to attend a concert.

Village Churches and Manor House History
In Plath, different construction phases reveal how a church building developed. The village church was built around 1500 as a fieldstone structure without a tower. Its former tower was replaced in 1854 by the present brick tower, a work by Strelitz master builder Friedrich Wilhelm Buttel. The fieldstone building and the later tower thus give the structure a distinctive link between different periods.
The church in Leppin is a former fieldstone ashlar building without a tower, dating from around 1300. Its wall paintings were recreated in 2008 based on historical examples. The present tower complex was added in 1843: Strelitz building councillor Buttel was responsible for it, commissioned by Jasper von Oertzen. The churches in Alt Käbelich and Dewitz offer other historical highlights. The village church in Alt Käbelich is a fieldstone ashlar building from the late 13th century; the church in Dewitz is an early medieval fieldstone ashlar building. A medieval motte with a moat has also been preserved in the old rectory garden in Dewitz.
Manor house histories add to the picture of the area’s architectural heritage. Following the great fire of 1755, Leppin Manor House was altered and extended in the Tudor style, based on designs by Friedrich Wilhelm Buttel. Ballin Manor House was built in 1837 as a single-storey rendered building with a half-hipped roof. An exhibition at Alt Käbelich Estate explores beekeeping, household and farm work, baking and home butchering. It is housed in rooms in a former electric mill and an outbuilding. Check the current exhibition status and access arrangements before visiting.
A Broader Look at the Mecklenburg Lake District as a Destination
The broader destination of the Mecklenburg Lake District offers other nature and cultural experiences that provide a distinct regional perspective. Müritz National Park is characterized by forests, moors, lakes and expansive meadows. The Müritz National Park Hiking Trail explores this landscape in nine stages: it follows lakeshores, passes through ancient forests and along inland dunes, and leads to the source of the Havel. Certified nature and landscape guides offer informative tours there, including guided visits to the UNESCO World Heritage beech forest in Serrahn and tours from the water.
The Damerower Werder Bison Reserve is also part of this regional context: it lies on a peninsula in Lake Kölpin and in Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heide Nature Park. Visitors can observe bison there. The reserve includes a forest adventure trail with climbing opportunities, an ant house, an exhibition with interactive touch and visual displays, and a dendrophone. These examples complement Lindetal’s local architectural and landscape attractions with further options in the broader destination of the Mecklenburg Lake District.
