Warmbad combines the tradition of therapeutic waters with a spa park, a thermal bath and trails for a range of activities. Saxony’s oldest and warmest therapeutic spring flows here. As you plan your trip, a useful first question is: Would you like thermal water to be the main focus of your stay, or would you also like to include trails and cultural events? You can use your own preferences as a starting point when searching for accommodation in Warmbad.

Therapeutic Water and Local History

Warmbad was first mentioned in a document dated 9 May 1484, which refers to the place as “warmbate zu wulkenstein”. The Warmbad spring was discovered in the late 14th century. Since its discovery, its state-recognised therapeutic water has been used for balneological treatments. The local history therefore has two clearly dated points of reference: the spring’s early use and the later documentary mention of the place.

Thermal Water at the Silber-Therme

The Silber-Therme offers bathing and relaxation in the mineral-rich thermal water of the 26.5 °C spring. Facilities include two indoor pools, an outdoor pool, a sauna area and the “Jungbrunnen” wellness area. The options range from bathing in indoor and outdoor pools to sauna and wellness facilities. When planning your stay, you can decide which of these areas matters most to you.

Spa Park, Drinking Fountains and Cultural Events

The spa park includes a lake and a concert area. In spring and summer, events held there include the spa park festival, an open-air folk music concert and an operetta festival. These events also give the park a seasonal cultural role. Drinking fountains are available in the drinking pavilion, which is open daily in the spa park, and in the foyer of the Silber-Therme. If you would like to plan your trip around a particular festival, check the event date in advance; you should also check the drinking pavilion’s conditions before visiting.

Trails for Different Activities

The Bäderweg connects the two Saxon thermal springs of Warmbad Wolkenstein and Thermalbad Wiesenbad. The theme of thermal water thus extends beyond Warmbad to a second named therapeutic spring.

The Obere Waldring is the third of nine hiking trails in the Warmbad Wolkenstein terrain therapy trail network. It is also suitable for Nordic walking and cycling. So the route is not just a hiking trail; it also appeals to visitors who would prefer to plan their route around either of these other activities.

There are marked bridleways in the “Brand” forest area between Warmbad and Großolbersdorf. Another route option is the “Mountain Stream and Thermal Water” route, which climbs into the Warmbad spa centre after crossing the river again. Both offer other ways to combine your stay with physical activity.

Choose the Focus of Your Stay When Searching for Accommodation

With this distinction in mind, you can tailor your search for accommodation in Warmbad to the experiences you actually want to include in your plans.
